Just got myself a 1992 944 s2. It is fitted with a porsche immobiliser (via a electronic key) and a 10 year old cobra alarm/immobiliser. Its a real pain having to dis-arm both systems, espcially the porsche key in the dark. I would like to remove both systems and go with a new alarm. Can anyone point to any tech help for removing the porsche system ?

Thanks

Hi - Welcome to PH Not sure where you're based, but you could try Jon Mitchell in Bournemouth www.9xx.co.uk He fits new alarm systems as well as being very knowledgeable about all things 944.

Any reputable local alarm dealer should be able to do this for you for the price of one of their new alarm/immob systems.

Welcome Pcn1.

Jon is very knowledgeable about alarms in Porsches, but if you do go elsewhere make sure they fully remove the old systems. Quite a few people are starting to report problems with the 1980s Porsche fitted system, so its best to get it right out of there.

Thats exactly what I need to confirm with the installation engineer. I want the system correctly disabled and removed. Some bloke who just fit's new alarms of just one make and has no knowledge of porsche systems is to be avioded !
If I could get the diagram of the net I would do the job myself.

Sorry for the slight hijack- but on the subject of 944S2 alarms, does anyone know which immobiliser brand uses a chip embedded in a black plastic cone on the keyring?,my insurance company wants Thatcham certification.

For all you could want to know about service and how to work on anything on a 944 go to Clark's garage home page.
