Does anyone know where I can get a pukka (I don't want to bodge one up) camera mounting for the top of the windscreen or rear hood bar on my Chimaera?
I have seen them although they may just have been of the homemade g-clamp variety.
The results of my passenger's handheld efforts around the Le Mans circuit in september looked like he was filming on a trampoline and was mainly interested in closeups of the dashboard.

Demon tweeks do one for a rollbar mount - but it looks like the curved g-clamp would fit on bothe the areas you mention - a bit over £100 I think - I keep meaning to get one..

Check this out. Well made products, reasonably priced and good service.

PS I don't work for them either

That headrest mount looks quite smart.

I have a "camcorder suction mount" which is excellent. The "camcorder suction pad" looks really neat though, it wasn't available when I got mine. As for the headrest mount.....totally excellent , but I don't think it would fit to a Tuscan seat

Alternatively, try the motorcyclists trick of a remote pencil camera linked to the analogue in of a suitable Mini DV cam in VCR mode (ie a Canon MV550i)... not really played with this set up in the car but superb results on the bike from crazy angles (knee-cam anyone? ). Try www.rfconcepts.co.uk for the pencil kit

those suction pads are pretty strong I presume, would hate to see £1400 worth of camera fly down the road

Providing your windscreen is not too curved you won't have a problem.

Hi Ed

The suction mount with the stock code SM1, the second section on the following URL:

www.b-hague.co.uk/Mounting%20Brackets.htm

On the windscreen of my 996, I need to keep upping the pressure every 10 minutes as it looses suction. (Identifiable by the blue button moving outwards). However if I mount it against flat glass ie my conservatory it'll stay there all day.

A colleague who bought one at the same time attached his to the external rear glass (engine cover) of a 360 and went around the Nurburgring filming me behind him doing speeds of upto 160mph.

(Think mine must be faulty!)

If you have a posh camera, it will probably have the inputs to let you use an external bullet cam. This lets you soft-mount the camcorder (reducing the vibration damage to it) and gives better picture quality (in my experience) because you can mount the bullet cam rigidly so there is no picture shake.

Cheers,
