Can anyone shed any light on why my wipers lift away from the windscreen on my '98 Griff.

I was on the M42 on Saturday doing a strictly legal speed of course when my left hand blade started to lift off the windscreen and slap down again during operation. Even more bizarrley when they weren't in use the right hand one started to lift up.

Could it be that the springs on the wiper arms are shot (though I've never had this happen before on any car and believe me I've owned some ropey old nails!)

Any help would be appreciated...

Cheers

I don't know if this any help, but this was a common fault with 911,this was adressed in early'90s by porsche fitting double/parallel springs to keep them on the screens. This is one of the 1st sensible mods you can do to an older 911..Hopefully you can find a more suitably sprung wiper arm to cure this.

Do the arms have little spoilers fitted, and if so are they the right way up?

There's no little spoilers on my wiper blades...

Interested in the double spring theory though, have any other Griff owners attempted this...

I understand its around 85mph! I tried a spoiler type thingy, made it even worse. Gave up, its only the passenger, they are probably better off not seeing.
