Steering Wheel removal!

I want to remove the steering wheel on my 96 500 for a short while - just the rim and spokes - and I have assumed (perhaps naively) that is just a case of undoing the 6 countersunk screws but I have looked at the relevant section of my copy of the Bible and it appears to be rather more involved than I thought, but I may be reading about removal of the wheel with the central boss etc.
Can anyone confirm what needs to be done just to remove the wheel only but leaving everything else in situ.

Unscrew the 6 machine screws and disconnect the horn button. It's that simple.

The bible instructions are for getting the boss off the splines as well IIRC.
