extending satellite dish cables
Discussion
I want to extend the coax cable between the dish and the satellite decoder box. It looks similar to an ordinary TV coax aerial but with a threaded sleeve at the end instead of a simple push-on connector. At the moment it's about 20 meters long and I want to extend it by another 5 meters or so. Is it possible? Is it just a matter of buying/making a suitable coax extension cable?
Just buy the required length of CT100 or CT125 grade satellite cable, crimp on some f-connectors to each end and replace the wire that is there.
Sky are finikity about their cables so get a double sheilded CT100 which is BSkyB approved.
You could join it but signal quality may suffer.

you buy a male/male connector(you can also get skinny ones, that can fit through closed doors/windows), then another length of satellite cable
it's easier to get the premade cable with ends fixed on, but you can buy exact lengths of co-axial and puts ends on yourself if you want a tidier length

Replacing the existing cable is not realistically an option, it's an extension or nothing I think. Sounds like the extension may be viable but I need to be carefull about the spec of the cable and connectors and it may still suffer some signal degredation?
Presumably I'd want a cable with M & F ends rather than go through a gender changer, to minimise the number of joins?
