Was trying to start my Chimaera at the weekend and suffered complete electrical failure - not event the lights work now. Is there a main fuse somewhere that's likely to have blown or is it going to be an actual wiring problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Don't think so - are you sure you haven't got a completely flat/knackered battery?

There the infamous 100 amp fuse! on my 98 is was located in a black plastic box, sited half way down by the side of the oil sump on the drivers side.

Hope that sorts it.

Thats the fuse that is in between the starter and the battery?
That wouldnt cause a complete failure of all electrics would it?

Check the earth at the front of the lower right hand chassis rail where the body bolts to the chassis...i had a loose connection here that affected the lights but not a total failure!!!

Hi Nobby,

Most likely to be either:

100amp fuse as mentioned located under the car zip tied to the chassis OR

80amp fuse again in black box located by the battery coming from the + terminal on a brown lead (but i think this will only be present if you have aircon) but worth checking.

Regards,
Lig.

The fuse under the car will stop the car from charging only. The fuse beween the battery positive and the fusebox will kill all power, follow the brown lead from the positive and about 8m inches will be a black box, prise open and inside will be the fuse( thats if you have one !!!)
