Prices seem to have taken a bit of a tumble of late. Possibly due to many people wanting them for summer fun, and not for the winter. I realise they a bit of a specialist car in the first place, but i would have hoped someone would have taken an interest by now. I am not desperate to get rid of the car, but i am wondering how well priced it is. Am I asking too much?
It seems that there arent too many tidy, lowish miles, well specced cs's out there, so i figured mine probably worth slightly more than others. However had very few bites. Car is advertised on autotrader only on pistonheads. www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/59902.htm
Appreciate any thoughts about what you think the true value for the car is.

Some constructive comments

"white with red wheels" not in the photo's

Snow not the best background for a white (least popular colour) car, photo's have poor contrast

Have the belts/tensioner been done and when ?

Have you tried Porsche Post ?

Personally, I like it, BUT:

- not Mo30
- white not to all tastes
- 83k mileage may put some off

I'd say it's more of a 12.5k car until track day season kicks off in earnest, then maybe a grand more.

Good luck with the sale in any case.

Lewis - as ever, it all depends on how desperate you are to sell. Its not a great time, agreed, but even so, yours looks to be one of the better cars out there. If I was in the market again (and I wish I was) I would definitely be taking a look at yours - it looks great in white. I'd agree that you should show pics of it with the wheels on which you intend to sell it. It is at the pricey end of the market, but not outrageously so. I'd say it is worth £14k with the wheels that are shown in the pics, and the others thrown in too. Its had a lot of useful work done to it of late and the 83k mileage is fairly irrelevant (I've not been dreaming about Henry again) given that it appears to be in great nick. 83k is low-average anyway, I would say.

I advertised my car only on PH and got just 3 enquiries in 3 weeks - only one of those turned out to be serious and he bought it. So if you can afford to wait, your buyer will surface. Its a good car - have faith!

968 prices have taken a tumble of late but many of the 968CS's have been unaffected - if they are good enough.

By this I mean properly maintained, genuine examples (ie. no nasty track day accident repairs etc.), and generally in tidy condition, with complete paint (no rust, dents or hideously large scratches).

I think you should stick with the £14000, but be prepared to take lower or advertise lower if you get no interest.

Good luck!

looks like a nice car, i dont think the pics do it any favours though, 14k is a tad too high IMO, I have said before, I was looking at a 968CS before I found my 911.

not sure what it is but i like them

the car looks great!......better with original cups on though, techarts just seem to cheapen the whole CS philosophy (not original, standard etc). white is about to make a serious come back ( i always thought white with black scripting was the strongest example in CS's ) and there are serious buyers out there who know a good car when they see one!......it will sell, just wish i didn't have to be sensible and buy 1 series! oh well. good luck.

A white Sport sold on ebay last week for £7,400 - had about 80k & good history...

That one on ebay was a bit of an anomaly though - a lot of us were watching that. It would have been a bargain at £10k never mind £7,400! I really don't understand why the seller would be prepared to accept more than 25% less than the car was worth - it would be interesting to know the full story behind that one....

Yep, you are right Paul, it did. It was still worth more than £7,400 though.

My advice is to ring around a few 2nd hand Porsche dealers, you may like what they offer and accept it (I doubt it though) but at least you know what you can defintely get for it if you MUST sell.

Then amend your price to around halfway between what they offer and what they would retail at and be prepared to accept a little less.

Great looking CS by the way - agree with the previous poster to take better pics, preferably in the sun with green background.

thanks very much. some pretty useful comments. The wheels are actually off the race car cause they had some tred left on them, and i havent been back to the race team to swap them around again.
I am not too desperate to get rid of it, so may well wait until easter comes around, perhaps a few more inquiries then. For now though, i will leave it on pistonheads at that price, and see if anything comes along. I think it is worth quite a bit, as its been well looked after.

The problem you will have, along with any other 968 owner is that the Boxster has been hammered in price and can now be picked up for as low as £10k

A lot of people buy the 968 as a cheap way of getting into Porsche ownership and care very little about the actual car. The fact that a more modern Porsche is available will sway a lot of buyers. There is also the pressure from people who may have thought about a 968, but because 944's are so cheap now buy them instead and then mod the car. Personally cannot see 968 value return to where they were and are more likely to follow the S2 route.

As has been mentioned, no M030 which is one of the main items for a top dollar CS, so I think the value is closer to £11.5 - 12k. Would not worry about the colour as white in a CS is a good combination.

968...........great car but not massivly different from a nice 944 but 3 times the price ( I know they are different but thats the perception)...so 944s are virtually free, the 968 has realigned itself.........if you are not in a rush be patient there will be a man for it, I think you are been a tad optemistic at the price though. Best of Luck

I keep seeing this sort of thing said, but please show me a like for like comparison where a 968 is 3 times a 944 - to me the values seem a lot closer if you are comparing cars of the same mileage and condition.

It is much more like twice the price for cars in similar condition, and it has been that way for some years.
