Found these in a couple of my old car mags and thought they may provide 30 seconds of entertainment to people. The Speed 8 was in the December 1989 edition of Performance Car, and the for sale advert was in a 1986 edition of Fast Lane. I recognised a couple of the reg plates so thought I would post.

I remember phoning the factory some years back now (when I was still at school in fact) and asked whether I could buy the redundant Speed 8 from them. They didn't seem keen on me buying it though. A few years later I learnt that they had chopped it up :-( How unfair and pointless was that? Ever since then, I've wanted to convert a standard wedge and have Speed 8 bodywork made for it. One day I tell ya...
I also really liked the 420 saloon from the early 90's and once again called the factory for a sale. However, the car had already been dumped with the nose saved to be grafted onto the White Elephant. Once I learnt that the White Elephant was standing in a state of ruins in their yard, I again called them and offered to take it away, only to be refused once again... Luckily though, its now in safe hands undergoing a full restoration.
Finally, I called the factory one last time determined to buy something from their yard. They had a tatty old wedge there which had been one of their press/demonstrator cars. They were just about to sell it to the company who does all the stunts for the Bond movies. They wanted to buy the car, chop the body off it and mount cameras onboard ready to film some car chase stuff for one of the films (Tomorrow Never Dies I think). I managed to get in their first though and buy it before the deal went through. Apparently they prefered to sell it to me as I wanted to restore it etc etc. I also think they were just sick of me keep calling to buy cars off them, so sold me this to shut me up!
Anyway, was all good fun!
Cuneus,
I didn't think I had received an email from you, until I just looked in my spam mail that is! Typical bl**dy hotmail! Anyway, I shall send you a reply now and add you to my trusted list! lol.
