Not as interesting as Premium Bonds I know, but....

How long does this normally knock you out for? Without going into too much detail I ate some chicken on Sunday lunchtime which was duly rejected at high speed some time around Sunday evening. Since then I've been weak as a lamb. I can eat but I just can't get any energy. Even laying on the sofa is hard work

Anyone got any top tips to get me going again?

Anyone says eat some bad chicken and I'll em

I contracted the ecoli (strain 57? too close to heinz for my liking) bacteria when it was found in the water in Hatfield back in 97. I was knocked out for 2 weeks. First 4 days were spent in perpetual pain with vomiting and loose unmentionables followed by a slow recovery.

Good luck

Bastards even put Lucozade on the top shelf in the shop. Don't they realise how painful standing upright is when you've been retching for England?

Don't take any diahhorea tablets - if your body wants it out, let it out.

I had some dodgy eggs a few years back, didn't eat a thing for 3 days after that. Bed-ridden for a day.

And no matter how pointless it seems keep drinking (water) getting dehydrated is easily done and a very bad idea.

Get some of those Dirolyte (sp) sachets from the chemist, they help put back all the salts and stuff that you have lost though vomiting etc.

Only other things are rest up, plenty of water, and be very careful with milk products, if you have had food poisoning, then for some reason it has an effect on your milk tolerance, and can curdle the milk in your stomach and off you'll go again.

You would be as well to get a sample to the doc for testing, it could be a notifiable food poisoning that enviromental health need to know about.

I'll live Tried the Diarolyte and Lucozade etc. I'm normally immune to everything due to my tendancies to eat stuff that's a bit dodgy, but in this case I got well caught out. I think it was supermarket chicken breasts in sauce that got me. Strange thing is the gf had some from the same batch, cooked at the same time etc and was fine...

Do you think she's trying to tell me something?

I had gastric flu just before xmas! Lovely stuff not.

The doc recommended a pint of water flavoured with squash with a pinch of salt and teaspoon of sugar IIRC (Same as the £4 a pack cost!)

Just keep drinking the fluids and avoid dairy and fatty foods.

Drink cola. The caramel in it, well, "binds" you together, so to speak.

Plus there's all the sugar and caffeine.

Just don't forget to brush your teeth.

gastro entiritis is the worst...
had it not so long ago felt like death warmed up. best thing is to get plenty of rest and keep your fluid levels up.
you won't have it for more than a week if you get strong enough antibiotics.
