Has anyone fitted a corbeau seat to their car themselves?
I've ordered all the necessary parts(special tapered corbeau pro series 5, lotus seat bracket and harness bar and harnesses) but I want to know if there is anything I should know before attempting this. Also any other useful info would be greatly appreciated. I want to fit it myself because Bell & Colvill want to charge me three hours labour i.e £240, and as I'm assuming it's just a couple bolts, I think I should be able to do it!
Thanx for all your replies, a great help. one more thing( question for steff)did you have to unbolt the old bracket from the old seat and affix it to the corbeau, and if so is it very hard; also i'm ordering six point Luke harnesses which apparently fix to these brackets for hip and crutch straps( shoulder straps obviously go to the bar), do you concur? cheers!

From what I remember some long handle allen keys may be required as the odd fastener can be a bit of a pain, but it should not be to bad especially saking 1/4K in the process.

I have

Its easy enough to do 4 bolts hold the seat in, 1 bolt holds the seatbelt to the seat.

Remove two more bolts that hold the seatbelt to the rollover bar.

Fix the subframe to the seat at what you think is approximately the right sort of position and place it inside the car, put a couple of bolts in to stop it moving and see if the seating position is correct.

You might also like to bolt the lap harness through the floor to make it more secure.

Careful ! www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=643&page=1&pp=20 The lower harness bolts should be bolted through the rear chassis beam and NOT the floorpan as is only 2mm sheet aluminium and can't handle the load. Use spreader plates placed inside the (hollow) beam and bolt the harness to this. This does require some minor cutting and peeling back of the glued aluminium sheet underneath the passenger compartment to get the plates/nuts in place. Afterwards these parts should be pushed back and some glue/coating applied.
