best hotel in barcelona?

Im taking my wife to Barcelona for here birthday, and have been browsing the net, but cant seem to decide on a hotel.

Any recommendations. Location must be central and 5 star for certain.

Hotel Arts or Hotel Omm for glitzy modern ones.

The Claris is lovely with a rooftop pool.

The Meridian is great, as is the Claris. Breakfast was better at the Meridian, but overall I preferred the decor of the Claris and the fact that you had a bottle of complimentary wine and chocolates left on your pillow. They have incense burning in the corridors too which is lovely. I thought that the pool was a little disappointing. I was expecting something about twenty times the size

I can't for the life of me remember the name of the hotel, but when I went to the VW Passat press intro we were staying in a whopping great hotel (late 19th/early 20th century style) whacked on top of a hill giving a most fantastic view on the city of Barcelona.

The road leading to it wasn't bad, either. Shame I was road testing a diesel repmobile instead of an Elise .
