Chernobyl on BBC1
Discussion
It did make compelling viewing, I have to say I think I would rather have been in the initial puking then dying bunch than the "skin falling down my leg like a loose sock" bunch, didn't sound like much fun at all.
I was a little puzzled by the stiff upper lip British accents though.
Has anyone read any good books about Chernobyl they could recommend?

Theres an interesting website (think it was posted here a long time ago), of biking around Chernobyl and the excluded zone at www.kiddofspeed.com

I found that yesterday (independently of PH
) and I thought it was intersting.tomtom said:I thought he did a good job of playing a straight role. A very chilling approach to the catastrophe, but I couldn't help drawing parallels to the current governments way of handling things.

I was more puzzled by Vivian playing the lead scientist...
Bloody job they got the water out from underneath the fire. It did make me think quite hard about how "clean" nuclear power really is.
Bear in mind it was a drama, not a documentary. There were a lot of factual errors in that programme.
The World Health Organisation reckons the mass evacuation and upheaval of thousands of people had at least as great an impact on public health.

i have to admit i found it to be a great program, i liked its style, no big fuss, just getting on with the story.
if the program is to believed, its amazing to think that the mamagement were more scared of their superiors than all that radiation, and that it was harming everyone close by.
i still have photographs of the spectacular sunsets we used to get after the accident, and remember the ban on anything to do with the sheep from the north welsh mountains, due to them eating contaminated grass.
