price increases in the summer
Discussion
Take heart, the reason for the sarcasm, is our own ignorance.
There is no way that we can tell how much they are likely to increase by. It could be £300, it could be a grand. It all depends on a multitude of theings, the primary ones that spring to mind are the economy and how good the summer actually gets.
To be totally honest, your guess will be as good as anyone elses.
As to the sarcastic ones, be nice, he aint an old hand yet, and aint likely to become one if we keep this up

Thats really useful. Thanks for the sarcasm. its only what i read in other forums that you guys have discussed!!!!!!!!
Just thought a rough idea on a general increase in the summer period was a fair question!!!!:mad
FFS - get off the high horse. Noone will be able to tell you exactly how much they go up. Like I said the demand goes up marginally in the summer and prices tend to go up between nothing and 500 quid. Seldom more than that. The dealer prices will likely stay the same. Used cars will likely be advertised at the same prices as now, but will get closer to their asking prices as demand will be higher.
I am beginning to agree with Sworks comment to you in a previous thread - the words troll and fiver spring to mind.
You might notice that pistonheads generally has a very open and welcoming attitude to newbies (we were all newbies). Ever wonder why you seem to be getting flack? (though flack wasn't my intention initially) Even the name you chose wasn't all that inspired.

Did I miss something.
Previous post missed by me, by the sounds of it.
Someone trolling on PH, surely not.
Shangani/SWorks - please elaborate
Too late - Sworks subsequently edited his post. Dates back to this thread:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=230219
A couple of comments about an exige as a car for "pulling" etc, followed by a heated discussion:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=3&f=&t=230219&h=0
Read the whole thread and judge for yourselves. Today's thread seemed like more of the same.

I really want to get on with all you guys here at piston heads. I appreciated the advice i received in december, and as for using the car to pull, that was nothing more than a joke.
I received abuse for telling you I could insure the exige £850, (although its true).
I just thought a decent reply would have been ok. Such as, impossible to say, depends on the demand!
as i said, really would like to be accepted by the regular users of this site.
sorry if i came over as a bit of a tw@t

Despite your impressions, noone is out to get you here, you just didn't do yourself a lot of favours at the outset. Read through the first couple of posts on this thread again. My picture posted was also meant for a bit of light humour. Shnozz was quite obviously joking - actually his car is even worse than mine and you shouldn't even offer him 5K, let alone 5K more than its worth.
Here is what I said:
You now say:
Isn't that pretty much what I said? I elaborated later.
BTW - if you tried seloc, the response would have been way different - not in a good way either. Here it actually started as a bit of a leg pull.

Lotus prices usually firm up in the spring because of a general increase in demand as the weather gets better. £10 / £500 - who knows?

In defence of the regular fellas here (although they really need no defending) I came in as a complete newbie this week and have had nothing but constuctive, encouraging and damned fine comment!
Also, unlike many of the well informed chaps here, I'm in no position to dictate the rights and wrongs with regards to philosophy and ownership of a Lotus just yet, but I do completely understand the whole deal, and that's not through having been told it either! It's just how it is
Quite why you may or may not have been misunderstood has only come about through what you have written on the site now and in the past. Nothing more, nothing less
Like I say, I'm really new here, and it's hardly my place to start throwing comment and opinion about, so I won't. Was just trying to shed some light on what is a pretty brightly lit subject for you

A travelling monk meets his mentor on the road and the mentor asks how the last town was.
The monk replys "it was full of nasty people".
"Hmmm and what was the town before that like" asks the mentor ?
The monk replys "it too was full of nasty people !" and asks "do you know what the town ahead is like "?
The mentor replys "for you, the next town will be exactly the same as all the others".
I may have buggered up the illustration but the point is that you brings your own baggage.

Its quite worrying really, £13k for the car last March, a £2100 bill for it this month and estimated another £1k spent on it last year. So much for my theory that mine would be cheap to run compared to my TVRs
Thats the estimated running costs I had for the Cerbera I fancied
And yes, I didn't buy the el cheapo ones, I went for an immaculate 1 owner car with 24k on the clock....twpbugger said:

Look, stop being gay, we all love each other [group hug] ok. It's just impossible to tell what prices will do so the jokey responses above were indicative of how we don't have a crystal ball.
Chill Winston.
Basically you'll find that prices (note that this is the sellers expectation, NOT the price at which a car sells) will firm from £0 to £1,000 in the summer months. Nothing more than simple supply and demand economics. Supply falls, demand increases, price moves up accordingly.
At the end of the day, do your homework and then worry about it when you have the cash. Seeing as you're only going to slap neon's all over it and whack in a 40,000 watt stereo anyway I hardly think £500 quid here or there is an issue to a man of your means

TBH Twp, you are completely missing the point of a lotus owner. We are nice, friendly, happy people, but mad about our cars!
When you come in here and start telling us you are still at uni and want to buy an exige as a "pullin car", then you are insulting lotus owners. We love the car for what it is, not for looking good on a friday night pulling up outside a club to pull some bird.
When you can understand this then you will realise why you are getting so much stick, until then I suggest you buy a Corsa to "spruce up"!

Hey give this guy a brake! I am 20 and this is just young lads talk some times! we don't acctually mean it. I own an Exige and go to uni one day a week(as well as my full time job of course-surveyor) This means noithing! My exige is mint in every way and is never put away dirty! You can't expect every lotus owner to be 25+. I total agree the S1 in my eyeys is a future classic and that is why mine is mint and is how it was when it left the fectory, with only 16k on the clock! He was just asking the question there is no need for a response like yours! the other where just joking I get that and laughed my self!
Nathan
I have stuck up for you here mate, but please don't let me see photos of your future lotus with neons on
