stereo head unit???

i have a CDR22 cassette head unit connected to a 6 disc changer unit in my 996, can i do a strait change over for the newer CDR23 CD head unit i saw on ebay ??

I think all the connections are different as is the method of data transfer ...
I'm sure there's someone here with much less wholly knowledge...

Got a feeling the difference is that the CDR23 uses the new MOST technology in which case it is very different, but someone more technically competant may know better...
