Just trying to make my mind up about the zertec headlight (front and rear) conversion. I love the look of the new style lights, but will it deter buyers in the future???? Any thoughts ????

There's an argument for saying that any modification could deter some car buyers. Not PHers, of course, since they know better...

I have Zertec fronts but i decided against full flair in jobbie. So in the event of the new owner not liking them i can pop the original back in.

IMHO the most subtle conversion is the one by Webbs Auto aka www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk, as advertised in Sprint. I saw one of these at the weekend and it gives the Griff a slightly more aggressive look but keeps the classic pod shape. Whether or not you keep the driving lights seems to be optional - the car I saw had them removed and a black grille across the aperture.

Personally I'd be happy to buy a Griff like this but wouldn't pay to have mine done.

My Zertec lights do retain the Griff pod shape, just not a full flare in job.

I have seen the Tvrbodyshop conversion on the frirst one **** vlr and must say i was inpressed with the finish and look.

Although i am not sure what it would look like on a lighter coloured car.Think it would probably look naf.

Havent seen the rear lights in the flesh so cant really comment on them except from the pics i wouldnt change mine but if they wher on one i was looking to buy it wouldnt put me off.

As for the clear Indicator Lenses Arthur Dent i remember seening a thread on here a while back but cant remember the out come except a pain to change.
But where from i cant remember.try a search

No mine are not Landrover indicators, i made them myself from Whiskey tumblers. Simple enough, use the original reflector ,cut down a tad, and thats it. Of course being completely clear you could see the orange bulb. Philips do a clear bulb but i used orange LEDs.

David,
So have you done a www.mod-wise.com bonnet stay/prop then?
I need a decent one as my old alloy strut fouls the nice new twin throttle arrangement. Something telescopic would be great! Rich...

Oh dear, i have one on mine but, the latch to keep the bonnet up also lets it fly up in the wind!!! The latch is with someone at the moment to see what he can do.
Actually for the indicators, i was sat in the garden with a "G&T" and peering through the bottom of the glass,it just came to me. Indicator lens.

I want to fit clear indicators too. The standard reverse lights on a modern Chimaera are identical to the indicators. £20 per pod is affordable but your solution sounds cool. How did you do it? Was your tumbler the correct diameter? How did you cut the base off and how did you attach it to the indicator housing?
Cheers!

Mark, i think you have now seen a Zertec in place.
You dont cut the base off the tumbler, just poke it in the hole. Mine were a little bit smaller in diameter so a wrap of foam and press in until flush. Then a bit of mastic to the rear to keep there. I have to admit mine were not even mastic(ed) until the body shop did it when i had a respray. The original reflector will come away from the orange lens and then that can be trimmed with scissors to fit inside the tumbler, keep in place using a clear mastic. The original bulb holder and the rubber seal around it then just pushes into the tumbler. Then all you need are Philips clear, but orange when on,(forget what they are called) bulbs and there you have it. Add ice and a slice, to the spare tumblers( they always come in packs of four!) a splash of gin and finally the tonic.Cheers.

Hummm........
Now, do I use Stuart, Royal Dalton, Dartington...?
No - only the finest crystal for my Tiv - Elizabeth Duke it is .
I guess there's not reason why it won't work on a Chimaera. Might give it a go. Thanks!

whiskey tumblers what a great idea. that beats anything blue peter have done with a empty washing up bottle and some milk bottle tops. but was passing a landrover on the motorway today and looks like rear indicators are the same size as the clear reverse light. will get in contact with dealer to see if this is the case.
