I am looking for an alternative too the 996TT,

I was thinking either Gallardo or late-ish 360. Iv heard of alot of clutch problems with the lambo. This doesnt really put me off as can be fixed under warranty but i understand that Lambo are not the best example of service in the High end performance market? This is not a statement but more a question. If i have clutch problems i dont to wait 1 month to get it fixed.

Anyone had any experiences?

Only the first clutch replacement is honoured under warranty, I believe the cost therein is 4k a clutch. Various reports as to how long they last - but I'd budget one in . A good PPI would tell you the clutch wear etc etc

I believe they have replaced more then 1 clutch for some people. But that was while they were still churning through older revisions.

I think now they'll replace it for the current revision. And since they aren't having the high failure rate with the current revision, they won't replace that. Even still, if it fails sub 6k, and they cant find any other signs of abuse. You could probably force them to change it.

Main point is, once your on the latest revision you shouldn't be having sub 10k failure, provided you dont seriously abuse it.

When you talk about the current revision are you talking about the new gallardo or late first gallardo's?

The late MY04's should have had all the previous years warranty issues completed in the factory, so a late 2004 should effectively be the same as the 2005's. You can tell later models with the gold bull on the steering wheel.

I think the clutches are up to revision 3 already but I've still heard that these clutches still aren't right!

If the car has never had a clutch replacement then it will need one but after 10,000 miles Lamborghini won't replace them under warranty.

Talk to Alan at Lamborghini Wycombe and he should be able to answer all your questions.

I've been looking into buying a Gallardo but the advise I've been given is to go for the 2005's. I won't do this until they've taken their biggest hit on depreciation and at least a year from the 2003's being out of warranty. This should give us a 'real world' ownership guide!

....................roll on the 360 for now!
