Ive always wanted to do something special for my girl and Ive been considering building a small, powerfull, sports type car with classic styling (with my own twists obviously)

Ive been going through kit cars and various sorts of build kits, but most of them seem to use exsisting parts from older cars, such as Cortina chassis and such.

I would like to know where someone would be able to buy a decent tubular chassis to build a top handling sport/roadster on??

Also I would like to ask if there is any companies open to commision on custom bodywork fabrication (metal or fibreglass!?)

I wont be doing this project for a fair while yet, but its something I would love to do!

Thanks guys

most kits use running gear from other cars not the chassis, such as suspension components, brakes, steering gear
it all depends on which car style your looking at

Well Ive seen a lot of these documentaries where people build a car from scratch, but they have tubular chassis (racing style) which is what I was considering!

Im new to the concept of kit cars and the only ones I know barring the Tiger, Dax tojeiro and Ultima are things like Robin Hood which definately isnt what Im looking for.

I like the Ultima but its not for my girl, shes into Morgans and various other boat-tail roadsters

Sorry guys - He said morgan so its got to be the revised GCS Hawke
www.lcdevelopments.com ,it looks like a morgan , sierra based and
would work out lots cheaper than working from scratch and getting someone to make you a body and wings , its also had some good reviews and drives well - she'll love it (put a V8 in and you will too...).

For a really solid chassis, utilizing Sierra running gear, try Metisse on 01656 862437, ask for Terry.

If look at something like the NG range:
www.ngcars.co.uk

The cars look traditional, and use old MGB running gear. BUT, there's no reason why all the running gear can't be refurbished to new, and even updated via specialists to provide thoroughly modern performance in a traditional appearance.

the GTM's seem nice, although they are fairly expensive.

The Spyder and Libra both use fibre glass chassis's and rover or honda engines.
