Ferodo DS2500 front pads
Discussion
Always found these guys useful. www.asperformance.com/ Why do you want DS2500 pads specifically ? from past experience I don't rate them much, inconsistent pedal feel when hot, fade. poor bite etc etc
Depends what you want to use them for, if it's mainly track work I'd use the DS3000 (not very kind to your wheels though) or Pagids, if your doing mainly road driving and "making progress
" I'd stick with standard pads, decent fluid, braided lines (and removing the pressed steel dirt shields behind the discs if fitted to get more cooling air to them)

Its mostly used for normal day to day driving, fast A roads every day and the odd towing a horse box. I do push the brakes quite hard and i am a late braker.
Not sure if any of what ive written will make a difference to your recommendation?

Braided lines made a huge difference to the pedal feel on my 993 RS.
I also prefer Castrol SRF brake fluid to any other (including Ate Blue race fluid)
I never experienced fade with the above setup, but my car also had the 993 Turbo S cooling ducts/lights which were correctly plumbed in using 4" ducting onto the rear face of the disc. (but I guess your TT goes down the straight bits of the road quicker than my RS ever did

)My experience stems from two Imprezas fitted with DS2500 and DS3000 pads. My 22B came with a Prodrive 330mm brake upgrade with DS3000 pads fitted. They were hugely impressive, no fade period, consistent pedal feel and very confidence inspiring (like you I'm a heavy late braker) The only downside was the deposits left on the wheels, a browny colour, ROCK hard and just about impossible to shift once it had built up) I subsequently found out Prodrive threatened to sue Alcon (the supplier of the upgraded kits) for damages against claims from miffed owners whose wheels had been trashed.
Last year I bought an Impreza P1 which had standard (p*ss poor brakes) I bought a Prodrive upgrade kit and noticed it came as standard with the DS 2500 pads.
There was no comparison with the DS3000 pads. Once hot, the pedal feel and travel was inconsistent which led to several
moments !! I bled them a couple of times and no air came out. Fearing for my life (not all down to the brakes !) I sold the car. Several other P1 owners who tracked their cars came to the same conclusions and tried other pads (including DS3000) sucessfully.

Went to pagid yellow rs29s which have stood up brilliantly to around 10 trackdays and still fine.
Squeak a bit when cold because the shims wouldn't fit but in terms of braking, they're great.
If you go the Pagid route, get them direct from Pagid, you'd be amazed at the price difference...
Cheers

On the subject of Pagids, I have tried Pagid Yellows (rs29s) on the front brakes of my 993 RS and they do squeak as singh911 points out. But they are awesome pads. On track the initial bite is great and very reassuring and very consistent too. Trouble is, I think they eat (standard Porsche) front discs. I'm not sure if anyone else agrees with me, but I went through 2 sets of discs in about 10 track days, and I think it should be possible to better this wear rate on discs.
I then tried standard front pads and they were lovely on the road, no squeaking, lots of feel. But on the track at Donington I got fade, not huge amounts, but it was a shock after using the Pagid Yellows.
So they have gone into a box and I now have Pagid Blues on the fronts. They sqeak a little on the road. I am hoping they don't fade on track as much as the standard Porsche pad, but make the discs last longer. I know that initial bite and overall performance won't be as good as the Pagid Yellow, but they may be good enough for me and help my budget in terms of replacing discs.
By the way, I have tried getting heat into my brakes slowly on my out lap and cooling them slowly on my in lap, but this doesn't stop my discs cracking rather quickly with Pagid Yellows.
The top solution to all this would be those grooved discs by Alcon or Brembo that the Titanic lads all seem to use on their GT3s. These would stand up to loads more abuse than the standard Porsche cross drilled discs that just crack too easily. But such a disc doesn't exist as yet for the 993 RS.

2 sets of discs in 10 track days
I would hope you can better that kind of wear rate as well. Why were you having to replace the discs?
I run with pagid yellows ( I have the 993rs front brakes on my 964) and they last ages and it would appear to be a set of discs for every 2 sets of pads which I guess is about right. The standard Porsche discs do crack but I've been told not to worry until they start to join up or reach the edges by which time the disc is out of spec anyway.

Basically the cracks had got too long in Redline Racing's opinion. PS.....I have counted up properly and the total was 12 track days. Still not great though. It's Bedford Autodrome that wrecks the discs the worst IMHO.
I know JC has skimmed his discs and discovered that the cracks are very superficial usually. But when Redline rang me and advised me to change them, I sorta just agreed and took the pain.
I'm not sure if its too early for me to comment on the wear on my opc discs with pagid yellows.
The discs have done 12 trackdays. The yellows have done 8.
Cracks have appeared on the discs, not joined up yet.
How long might one expect standard discs with normal pads to last?
cheers
