Don't know how many of you have read the piece in the current issue of Sprint about getting more involved with a TVR Tuscan or GTO team next season, via your regional TVRCC group.
Well the east midlands bunch are not really into motorsport in a big way, no offence to any of you it's just the impression some of us get, I know it's not everyones idea of a good Sunday for instance a local member had a season in Tasmins and we got 4 people to cheer him on at a local track in the regional area
There seems to be about 4 or 5 of us that 'get' motorsport and so the question is does anyone know anymore details, whether this small number is enough, or if a Pistonheads supported car is possible

Raceboy,

I wonder if each region would be mutually exclusive...

For example if it turned out to be hideously expensive could two or more regions merge and form one sponsorship...

Just a thought...

The way it's worded in Sprint it doesn't really hinge on money, the only commitment is to buy a team shirt, you can then organise fund raising if you want but it's not complusery
It give you the chance to join the team on trackdays, maybe have a passenger ride, and help out on race days,

I'll be working on 2003 motorsport plans over Christmas. Got a few ideas I'm kicking about.

Raceboy,

I think there's been a few idea's tossed around, I'd heard the shirt thing but hadn't read the fund raising bit into the Sprint article (must be either dim or didn't read it properly)

Holding events would be a good way to do things. I go to the Staffs region, but if the East Mids guys were holding an event to raise some sponsorship I'm sure myself and some of the Staffs mob would come along to support it...

Cheers

Raceboy,
I'm the same, saw the article and would be very interested in getting involved, but my local Region are not into motorsport, more into the social side which is great but not the slant I want. I'd be interested in a non-region specific involvement.

Just bring a cake and the good will to not stand in the way when the guys are doing their best to get a decent effort and if possible try help out. At least that's my religion. Seriously, everything counts, even turning up and just saying hello. Raising money is even better... other supplies on demand.

Speaking from the grass Roots end of things, Any input from people is great, when you've had a shit week at work, spent every waking hour putting the car back together just had a crap qualifying in the rain, and then someone comes over to say hi i wish i was doing that or well done it really gives you a lift...

Last Year Matt saw a thread on Ph and came and gave us a hand at half a dozen races last year, and that made things so much easier, normally its just me and the old man... kipping in the back of the transit.

A race team/ driver will take anything they can get from a kind word, to helping out, to large wads of cash
I even got loads of encouragement from a few notes i got back about the race reviews i wrote...

If you really want to get hands on in motorsport the easiest route is probably the club level, go to a few meets, and read the program to find the guys local to you, and then go and offer them a hand. You could also try a note at the local motorsports shop...

If you help the little guy's it might not have the cashe of helping williams but you know it will make a real difference to a small team.

There was an idea at one time to setup a tas challenge supporters club, with a newsletter race tickets ect, would anyone be interested in that or are you all after tuscans and GT's

If anyone does want to help with the tasmins drop me a line, and i'll put you in touch with your closest driver

Have Fun

If you wish to get more information on what the article is about and the thoughts on how it could be implemented, give Richard Mayoh a call his numbers are at the end of the article, I belive his e-mail is playing up at the moment so a quick call would be better.

There is no minimum or maximum number needed to take part in this.

Any TVRCC member can register an interest – just need their name, contact details and region.

If the local RO is interested then even better but if your region isn’t too interested in motor sport then not a problem just call – register.

The Staffs region have already had a taste of what goes on so contact them if you want to know a bit more or email events@tvrcc.com (subject:RACE) or call the number at the end of the article.

The full details will then be sent out to those that have registered and then a region/s will be allocated a team.

Any questions give me a shout – details at front of Sprint.

Richard.

Also consider that if you want to have a go yourself then sprinting is a very friendly and cheap way in to motorsport. I won't claim it's as exciting or glamorous as proper racing like the Tassers do, but it's great fun (and only takes a fraction of the time and money of proper racing) and you can do it in your normal road car.

From what I understand of it the Tvr car club are joining all the Tvr Tuscan Teams with a region, it my be joint regions,if each region hasnt got enough members to join in then they will join another region to support there team and this will be sorted at the meeting when you have regiserted your interest with events.

looking forward to see you all.

Raceboy,

See what you mean about the current issue of Sprint, I got my Dec issue last night...

I read it pretty much as Richard Mayoh puts it. Looks to me like your only real committment is to register either on your own or as a region and buy a (probably fairly expensive) shirt. I say fairly expensive based on the price of the other motorsport shirts.

If you want to raise funds then all power to your elbow but it's optional.

Looks to me like once again the Car Club folks have come up with a good deal....

Maybe we'll see you at the tactics meeting....

Cheers

Prices for the Team Shirt (Polo Shirt at present) are being looked at and the pitch is to keep the cost to no more than £20, this includes the donation to the Team.
