Now that we know the new 997 TT will come with a 3.6 litre engine are Porsche really going to develop a 3.8 litre version of the GT1 block just for the GT3? If they did, then why wouldn't they have used it for the 997 TT?

They might use a longer stroke to achieve 3.8, they might even use the heads, pistons, from the current 3.8, who knows!?

I wasn't really asking how, I was asking why. Porsche are all about lean production processes and since the GT3 and TT share the same block, I'd have thought they'd use the same bore size. Using a longer stroke for an engine that is likely to rev to over 8000 rpm doesn't add up. They wouldn't be using bits from the 3.8 997 engine since they're completely different engines...

Give it 2 years and I'm sure we'll see a "facelift" 997TT with a 3.8l engine with more power

I agree completely. They may end up making a few tweeks and trying to cut weight instead.

Your right, i was discussing this with a chap who knows more about porsche's then anyone, and he thinks that they will keep the 3,6.

I dont mind, as long as it is incredible to drive(which it will be) and 400+bhp then thats ok by me

Hi Sam,

The m5 is going really well thanks, piling on the miles, easily one of the most accomplished cars in the world. Had a good few races with the alpina too. The b8 beats the M5 in P400 mode quite convincingly, but in P500S its a different story lol

Yeah small world! Yellowbird is running really well. Sadly cant really track it so much as the car is too loud for UK tracks

Its going to stay in germany from april and just be a ring/autobahn tool

That was a great couple of days on track at Lemans Good times!
