yes. my mates like Iron and he doesnt lift a finger. hes 44 and has never been in a gym in his life. he works behinds a desk and is as strong as a bear.

Ive come to the conclusion some peoples muscles get bigger quicker with little effort and stay that way.

Yep, some people are born with more basic muscle fibres and the ability to increase the size of those.

Strength also depends on the placement of your joints and tendons, what leverage they provide so I'd imagine some people born with 'better' placed ones would be naturally stronger.

IMH, having muscles or the ability to develop large muscles quickly as nothing to do with genetic strength, as proven with Boxers, Colin Jones who boxed for a world title in the 70's was a formidable puncher but his physique was quite diminutive compared to many of his opponents.

Does anybody else know about the basques then? Saw a documantary explaining why a lot of them are extremely strong. They come from neolithic man or a mix with a dna strain which died out. Something like that, guess the're a bit more neanderthal then the next guy

Muscle mass is genetic, as is the effectiveness of your body to grow muscle in response to workload. Hence some people can get big in the gym - others have a harder time.
For an example of a genetic 'winner' see Ronnie Coleman he is HUGE even among other bodybuilders...

Strength is dependant largely on muscle mass so some people will just be naturally stronger than others (likem some people are taller / smarter / smellier etc..)

Punching power is more complex than just strength though.
Speed and accuracy being more important than 'big biceps' (tricep strength is required for powerful punching)

I thought "arepeoplen" from the title was some mythical strong man.
