Good evening all,

It's my dad's 50th birthday mid Feb & I need to get him something 'great'.
I'm planning on spending £100.

Suggestions please!...Last year I brought him, Jaguar cologne "rich spices and oriental woods, a very manly fragrance" he tried his best to act impressed! Urgh!

How about a second-hand TVR, an earring and a blond bimbo.

That’s what I’m hoping for anyway.

I doubt my £100 would cover a TVR....besides my car gets the garage when i'm back at home.
Earring - nope
Blonde bimbo - i'm too greedy, she'll be for me...& my mum wouldn't approve.

Myself and my Brother and Sister bought Dad a painting. He likes art in the house and isn't really the action adventure kinda guy. Something that lasts and He sees everyday too.

I'm not too sure how he is with heights....however, 'The Runaway Train' is his limit at Alton Towers.
The ballon flight sounds pretty cool, not as hardcore as the stunt-plane idea!
Quite like the art idea too - but i'm not expert *goes to check ebay*
Keep the ideas coming.

Phonebook, local galleries, take a walk and see something real. Art is a little too subjective for t'internet. Plus, gallery owners are all sound enough and will happily show you several pieces within your price range (remember, they usually don't sell that much too regularly). Veer towards a subject he's interested in and it instantly becomes more valuable to him. We went for a ghostly print of the bust of James Joyce by Louis le Brocquy. Irish subject and painter and an author that he enjoys. He's bought much more expensive stuff himself, but ours has always had pride of place.

If he's like my old feller, he'd probably opt for the 18-year-old blonde bimbo. Says he can remember HOW, he just can't recall WHY....

On my 50th, I'd be happy with 2 busty 25 year old wenches. It's not an unreasonable request really. At 50 you deserve a little something extra :P

Is there satellite radio in Europe? If not, get him XM satellite radio and then a plane ticket to North America to listen to it. Pure bliss, I say

How about a bottle of cask strength whisky and a couple of cut-crystal glasses to go with? Or equivalent spirits, of course...

A nice ground floor flat in Eastbourne with an easy to reach alarm cord.
And some slippers.
