There has been a lot of noise in recent months about 996 reliability issues, RMS' trouble, engines going pop. Much of which I suspect is internet scaremongering.

See link to a thread in the Audi forum on the cost of extended warranty on audis (and at some point volvo gets a mention).

Anyway in short 1500 gbp for the audi, 1000 gbp for the volvo (albeit after 3 rather than 2 years with porsche). Makes the 800 gbp for a 911 rather good value and is in fact testimony to the fact that the reliabilty / average value / number of claims MUST be lower than both audi and volvo given their permia are higher (unless the insurance underwriters got their maths wrong).
