The protected AAC files iTunes store uses can't be converted easily. The best way is to burn the tracks to an audio CD then rerip the files back to iTunes.

There's also a program/project calle Hymn (or JHymn) that could strip DRM from iTunes music store files. It's very good and very quick, the only problem with it is that its always playing catch-up with every new release of iTunes updates.

Google for it and have a read.

Not seen that Tune Bite thing before, will have to investigate.

I use Xilisoft www.xilisoft.com/ You can either pay for it or use the free download that only lets you convert 5 tunes at a time so buy it
Drag and drop from you libary and then convert to mp3 very easy to use.

How does that work? I tried with the latest iTunes release, and all it lets you do is convert to AAC, which is the protected format.

i use a program called "Easy CD-DA Extractor" to extract my Mp3's from the original CD's. Have used this a couple of times to re-extract CD's created by itunes (for the other halfs no apple MP3 player).

Sure there is an easier way tho'

You could always go into Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Importing and change the format to MP3 so any future imports from CD are taken in as MP3..

Me too. Easy when you know how. Cheers for that. Now I can burn from iTunes and play them in the car. Couldn't do that with AAC. Ta.
