Why don't Nissan use the Infiniti brand name, as they do in the states? This trick worked wonders for Toyota (Lexus), although this did also involve producing superb cars with dealer facilities to match.

Given the choice, I'd rather drive an Infiniti than either a Nissan or a Datsun. Oh, come to think of it I already do drive a Nissan - D'OH!

IIRC they tried the Infiniti brand here with the Qx, which sank without a trace...

Ha, first car I ever drove was a Datsun 120Y. The good old farm hack/paddock thrasher.
Later on I put it down 2 different banks, on 2 different occasions. Just walked home, got the tractor, pulled her back onto the road, pulled the grass out of the radiator and I was back in business.
Ahhh the memories.
