Hi chaps.
There may be another silverback and numbnuts project on the horizon (chim) so need to put a price to my S3C to gauge whether feasable or not.
I am happy to keep it, it's a lovely example but a cheap chim with some damage is an interesting prospect....
Mine is an H reg S3C (minus the cat) which used to be psychoberts until he had a slight mishap resulting in a small amount of bonnet damage. It needed a small bumper repair, new windscreen and mirror. This was done including a full front end respray including wings with several coats of two pack paint and (I think) four coats of cellulose, so needless to say there are no stone chips. Prior to that Simon had the car resprayed about a year and a half ago so the paint is marvellous.
Box folder full of history, plus since it's been in my care I have treated the chassis - it had surface rust, but very solid. I took it back to bare metal, then put 3 coats of red oxide, followed by several coats of hammerite on (Pics show the condition) It has had a full service, and good check up.
The full details of it are on my profile to save me waffling on.
It drives marvellously, and makes a noise like no other due to the blue flame exhaust and twin cherry bombs
The rear perspex screen isnt marvellous, but I never have the roof on so it never bothered me....It stops well too as it's got griff 500 brakes on the front.
I'm not putting it in the classifieds as I am happy to keep it but genuinely have no idea what to ask for it, the prices seem everywhere. If I could find a ball park figure then I would know whether it stays or moves on......
I'm sure Simon (psychobert) would vouch for it's 'togetherness' as I know he spent a lot of money on it, and it shows...

Should fetch 5.5K at least. Its had a small bump, but lots of work done on it and the chassis looks mint now.. Also got the modwise lighting kit, so you can see where you are going and a couple of weeks before the bump new suspensionat the front end..
However, you shoudln't sell her for a Chim as 1) you don't play golf (do you??) and 2) I'm just buying a house and haven't the money to buy her back right now..
I'd have her back like a shot.
Need a daily runner? Know of a nice little Audi..

if so, then a good comparison is my old S3, especially since itw as the sister car
I bought mine with about 60k on the clock and it was fantastic condition, similar to Simons. The only issue with it at the time of purchase was it needed new springs immediately. I paid £5300 for it in 2002.

Hi Simon, I probably won't end up selling the old girl, it's still got bits of my knuckle in the front suspension.
Plus, as you say I don't play golf, but have to admit, I prefer the shape of a chim to a griff. They have grown on me somewhat...saying that the S has got right under my skin...and lots of my skin on it as well. There's a chance the chim will come in at around 5k so I must admit, it's an easy way to a V8 and a lot more speed. Just re-covered the centre console in black as well Simon, it looks marvellous, so will be putting a grey gaiter on as you suggested, should look marvellous then. I would have the audi back Simon, but I've just bought an alfa with 262k on it for a snotter

Shnozz - its a 'd' on the register, but I really don't know why, it needed a small bit of fibreglass, a new light surround...Mind you at a TVR bodyshop the front end respray would have cost a thousand or so so I suppose that's why. You know the car though, it's a good un.

Mine was Cat D IIRC as well. As I say mate, I paid £5300 in 2002, although the chap that bought it off me had it advertised on here in late 2005 for £6k ish IIRC, so it must be appreciating.
I would say around £4.5k - £5k.

). So what if it's Cat D, so is mine, you will get what you and the prospective buyer thinks is the right price which could be £6k or better .
Both you and Simon have done a lot more to your S to make it a highly desirable purchase, far more than some untouched "straight" version which is riddled with rust and there are quite a few of them.

I agree to some degree with all the comments but we don't need to start slagging each other off (I didn't see a smiley on your post, if you are joking)
On pricing, it would appear that S3/C models very rarely go below 5K unless they are cat C/D and untidy and very rarely above 7K, I don't see a problem with residuals. The S series (along with those Griff things) seem to be bucking the trends and doing very nicely thank you.
With a full history of the "beyond economic repair" and photographic evidence, I don't see any need to penalise price any more than £500 or so, which is why I suggested 5.5k as a starting point.

Thanks to all for the input, I didn't wish to stir up a hornet nest, or to 'register intent' of selling via the back door - but was literally in the dark about how much it's worth as I know some people view an entry on the register as paramount rather than condition, and reason for the listing, sad but true.
Yes, both Simon and I have done a lot to the car, and have improved it somewhat, but I suppose that can be viewed both ways - improvements don't really add to the value, just make it a little more desirable, a bit like MGB with the luminition ignition(mg
- I had a copper coloured one - awful thing) costs a bomb to install, but you won't get it back and I suppose all the work that has been done to it I won't see, but it's all relative - If I get a cheap Chim then I still have a TVR and it's another one that was consigned to the scrapyard back on the road. . Here's a picture of the damage prior to having it mended, I am literally amazed it was written off, and I know Simon was, as it's purely cosmetic. I guess it's worth what someone will pay for it and whether they can look past the cat d situation. If they are going to keep it for a long time then I suppose it's a bonus.
Anyway, enough backdoor sales, Its not my intention but if someone wants a list of everything done to the old girl feel free to email.

From the amount of kit car comments I had over the years with the S's I had a feeling it was tongue in cheek irony but adding in the word "bloody" and the lack of smilies made me question it.
