Just checking.
theres a tapit ticking sound coming from the engine bay. [not a high piched one, just had a rebuild of new spec from blackpool.]
when i rev it at a certin RPM it taps but as it gets higher it goes away.
is this normal?
was there a post on an oil that could take it away?
if there is, is it good for a engine in long term use?

I think they all do that then. It's not called the Sewing Machine Speed Six for nothing!

OK i now know the taping is normal.
but does it do this because of bad design or is it, i quote at a high performance setting?

If it's a sewing machine type noise then I wouldn't worry. My Tamora does this, 6000+ miles and nothing nasty.

Cheers.

Why does it do it?
is it because of lack of sound proofing or a bad design?

Speed6,

i had a rebuild and mine developed the tapping noise you mention (developed within 1000miles) when it had the check up it was found that the old shims had been used :mad unfortunately the shim could not be found so another engine out!! Anyway developed the same noise again and guess what.. another faulty shim had been used, luckily the shim was still there so no need for an engine out!

Go have it checked!!! Better safe than sorry!
