This ebay ad was mentioned in a post on corveteforum. The seller says the engine is in the U.K. Anyone know of this one?

around 7,000.

Looking at it ,i would be a little supicous, the seller has got no history and the bidders are hidden.
If its a real deal, then its a bargain.

Its got to be a scam. 'Lingenfelter' LT5 with stock finish, no 'Lingenfelter' etched into the plenum and stock headers with Cosworth pistons....hmmmmm

If thats a lingenfelter block then i'm dangermouse

Out of interest there has been talk on ZR1 net about a cheap ZR1 in Scotland that too was suspect and very cheap.

Yes, why go to all that trouble modifying with cosworth pistons etc and not put headers on it?

ZR1 Cliff.

How comes they went back to pushrods? I have had several big American pushrod V8s and am still a big fan of the motors, but i would have thought that once a company had gone to the much more high tech DOHC and 32V method, they would have stuck with it?

Loads of reasons but to really understand you would be best of buying a copy of the "Heart of the Beast" by Anthony Young.
It is a very imfomative hardback book on the build up, from conception of the LT5 4 cam motor to the record breaking to the death of the legend.
I could sit here all night typing out all the reasons, but coming from a none reader like myself the book "Blows you away" with all the stories, even the relationships between LOTUS and GM working from both sides of the Atlantic on the project that so very nearly got the plug pulled on it on a few occasions, but in the end a dream was realised.

With no real power advantage presumably, at least in a street Corvette.

In 95 the LT5 was a 405hp lump in stock trim so yes there was a power advantage but there was also a big 'we didnt build it here' attitude at Chevrolet. As Cliff has said the book 'heart of the beast' is a really good read and an insight into the politics and inter-department lies that go on to make something like this.

I've found another great piece of info' for those knowledgeable people who enjoy a good laugh at our pushrod engines. GM have done a 3.9 litre V6 known as LZ9 with wait for it, wait for it ..... variable valve timing! Works via a hydraulic actuator on the nose of the camshaft. 240 bhp at 6,000 and 241 ft/lb at 2,800.
