I have just exploded; I mean properly 
lost it. So have all my colleagues.
I suspect we will need a new Masser because if Ted reads this he will immediately keel over.
A local rag has just been circulated amid cries of despair and frothing anger.
It's headline proclaims thus:
"Thug Who Sued Gets £75,000."
So what's the crack?
Here goes and sit down if you have the slightest empathy for any of the people who ever sacrificed anything in defence of this realm...
A toe rag by the name of Marvin Pomfret, 23, is apparently serving a life sentence for holding a prison officer hostage and beating him.
This chap has been dubbed a "one boy crimewave" by the local authorities, after a plethora of criminal activities (100 crimes, to be precise), developed and perpetrated during and beyond his teenage years.
However, our legal system has seen fit to award £75 grand on the basis that the local education authority misdirected his schooling and thus are to blame for his subsequent descent into banditry.
The local council chief called it "outrageous," and called it "staggering, ludicrous;" a local MP pronounced "the world has gone mad" and good ol' Anne 'hang 'em high' Widdecombe declared it "madness, absolute madness."
For the record, Marvin apparently had an IQ of 130.
Obviously, I am now considering a switch of energy into politics (well, maybe not) because this country simply cannot and should not have to tolerate this kind of lunacy.
The law is morally bankrupt, it seems and needs urgent reform. The advertising of advocacy should be made illegal as once it was, as should the concept of 'no win, no fee.'

By the sounds of it, you'd be better off becoming a one man crime wave... blame society, pick up your cheque and bugger off on a holiday, paid for by the tax payer.
hate it when like this happens... makes you wonder why you bother...the LEA should appeal.
Convicted & incarceratesd prisoners should not have access to the civil justice system.
Looking on the bright side, he's still in nick and I bet he'll take a right good hiding in there given his history..
Edited to say: Mungo - "As ye reap so shall ye sow" is an admirable sentiment, but one all too absent in todays society - taking no responsibility for one's actions (as is evidently the case here) allows the individual to eschew the visitation of Karmic balance.
He will take a beating though.. so that's something.

Okay chaps, here's what we should do. We should all sue for loss of earnings on the basis that we haven't got the qualifications we need to work in [insert dream job here]. Why? Because our schooling was misdirected and if we'd had the right guidance, we could all be doing exactly what we want to do and earning what we want to earn.
Good grief. It's true - the world has gone mad. But look on the bright side (!), at least with these "no win, no fee" things he'll have to pay a substantial amount of cash to his lawyer now. It's something I suppose.

Totally agree with you, I have just got back from town (Derby) and have passed no less than three of these
'no win, no fee' stands where some scrot just approaches people walking by asking if they have ever had an accident. I'd like to just go up and

Whats even more concerning than this little scrotes 'win' over the compensation system is what message is this sending to other hoodie wearing junior gangsta's?
There is only one way to stop yoof crime in its tracks and thats to associate bloody hard work with punishment as we all know they are adversed to light work at the best of times. Giving a settlment to a derranged yob is going to extend our bone idle yoof well into the next decade if something isnt done.
The government really should step in on this one.

Edited to add, perhaps now all those people who he committed crimes against will sue him for Personal Injury etc.. and soon cost him his 75k, and more.

Why are you people so shocked by this? It is the natural extension/consequence of years liberal thinking.
Liberal ideology makes everyone a victim of somebody/something else else. I'd have thought the answer was obvious: Those of us not robbed by this scrote should sue him for discriminatory damages on the grounds that his failure to rob us leaves us feeling marginalised and isolated from the rest of society.
As a result, we feel compelled to try to "hold down" jobs, earn our own way in society and generally be responsible citizens. This consequential behaviour is clearly detrimental to our mental and financial well being, and leaves us open to ridicule and abuse from normal members of this 21st century liberal democracy we live in.
Will the last lunatic please switch off the lights at bedtime......

I'd have thought the answer was obvious: Those of us not robbed by this scrote should sue him for discriminatory damages on the grounds that his failure to rob us leaves us feeling marginalised and isolated from the rest of society.
As a result, we feel compelled to try to "hold down" jobs, earn our own way in society and generally be responsible citizens. This consequential behaviour is clearly detrimental to our mental and financial well being, and leaves us open to ridicule and abuse from normal members of this 21st century liberal democracy we live in.
Will the last lunatic please switch off the lights at bedtime......

Why courts (and therefore juries of people like us!) award these cases mystifies me. Especially when 9 times out of ten the amount of damages is then reduced 10 fold on appeal. Besides knowing the legal system and red tape in this country he'll not see the whatever cash (even if he gets to keep it) for many years yet..

well the guy is a victim obviously, of his parents own stupidity, lack of care and attention for him, their inability to teach him right from wrong. I don't really see that this kids stupidity ignorance and contempt for others is anything to do with liberal parenting, just a complete lack of parenting altogether..
When will society take it upon itself to realise that school is not where you learn how to be a human being (that _is_ a job for parents) merely a place where they can teach you technical skills while your parent(s) earn the cash to keep you all alive...
