parts arrived at last from ZIP Products
Discussion
Happy New Year guys
Got my Z06 clutch and master/slave replacement parts from ZIP products.
Unfortunately they took a long time to deliver and could not produce the parts before Christmas they said the slave was out of stock
However now they have turned up at last J BUT they charged me $350 shipping with Ups instead of the quoted $240.
They are looking into this and will get back to me.
Also they had it seems mistakenly informed me that you don’t have to pay import duty on the shipping price but Ups did charge me another 25% on top off the parts plus shipping (just for those who may be considering importing parts to UK) so it all cost a lot more than hoped for.
Well now I have my parts I wanted to check if they are correct (in view of all the other mistakes so far)
LUK box has the identification 04-173 Chevy Pontiac 1997-2004
Any one fitted this kit and can confirm this is the correct part numbers for a Z06?
Zip have also added a label TM-258 97-04 Z06 Clutch Kit ( so they think it’s a z06 clutch kit) but I notice from LUK website it’s the same part for all corvettes
I wonder if GM use the same kit for both after all are they all just LUK kits?
Any ideas anyone
Thanks

just used the same company for a fan belt and it arrived very quickly. they forgot to charge shipping! bonus. very disorgabised, when i called they said they didnt do such an item until i told them it was on the website. swings and roundabouts. i have used ecklers and corvette america, and they have been great so far
You sent away to the US for a fan belt ??
Buying stuff abroad should be cheaper, but import duties, and shipping can often sting badly.
Usually 4.5% import duty, then add 17.5% VAT. This applies to purchase price + shipping costs.
Why they add this to shipping is beyond me, as you are paying for a service, not actual product being brought into the country.
UPS can be fast, but I hate them. Far too many cock ups with incorrect duty charges etc.

Thanks for the feedback, don’t think i will deal with ZIP again maybe ecklers or other next time, i could have bought the LUK clutch over here and it would not have been much more
Also I still don’t know if they shipped the correct one, I have a c5 but the general thinking on corvette forum was go with the z06 clutch supposed to be better.
It could be that there’s only one part number and ZIP products did advertise it as a z06 clutch.
Guess I was hoping that a GM labelled part would turn up, not just the same LUK clutch standard repset that fits all corvettes after all this hassle.
I wonder what GM would have provided if I had a z06 vin number?
Next I have to fit it that should be fun
I will post up how it goes
cheers

A belt is a belt. Virtually any motor factors should be able to get them.
I know my LS1 simply uses a 6 rib 2001mm long belt.
Most basic part number will be 6PK2001
6 ribs, PK is rib pitch, and 2001 length in mm.
Most belts will have some form of cross reference or be based along those lines. Nearly every modern car uses poly-v ribbed belts now.
I was buying my 10 rib blower belts from the US as finding a supplier for that here did seem awkward. Then aong comes 2 suppliers at once lol.
I upped to a 12 rib from www.optibelt.com
Or the other I found http://fp.transdev.plus.com/pages/belts/poly_v/kpv_m
But the likes of 10 rib and 12 rib are specialsit parts. Anything 6 rib or less is standard off the shelf stuff.
