Google Earth is horrendously addictive!

"Ooh, I'll just look for so-and-so"
"Ooh, what's that there"
"Ooh, I'll just see what this is..."
etc.

4 hours later you realise it's dark, you missed tea and the dog's looking at you in a funny way.

The high res maps we have of West Yorks are amazing, I hope they get around to doing it all at that res.

Isn't GE amazing! I don't know about anyone else, but I could look at it for hours, stirring up memories of holidays, travels, old homes and my honeymoon (found the exact location on a beech in Hawaii).

i have done the same , logged all my travels and old homes in to its memory.

I can not count how many hours i have spent on this, it is the best

I thought it was great, then I put my postcpde in and it came up with a picture of a dirty great big empty space where my road is! My place was built 2 years ago, so the pics are pretty out of date.

Out of date is right! My dad died in 2001, and his car is on his drive! I don't know alot about htis site, but I live in the sticks and can see the overall area where I live, but it just gets blurry if I zoom in closer. Is that right?

I Still don't know how to work GE properly: when I zoom in above a city it goes blurred, but it is able to show every rock and pebble on the slopes of the Grand Canyon.

Do you give it time for the streaming to catch up ?

Alot of rural areas are still low-res map data, you'll find that multimap has a more equal map quality coverage, better in the sticks, not as good as GE in the towns, so you need to mix and match the two ideally.

Can't wait for high res rural on GE though, some really cool roads to reference and build

Thanks, Marki. I'll keep trying. Still unsure of how to register exactly where I want magnified, the left hand column for address entry is a bit confusing to my simple brain, and I am not able to understand why a car icon appears in the middle of my sights on cityscapes. I'll catch up with practice.

Car ikon that i have no clue ,, to zoomin on an area just put the mouse on the spot you want to go to and click on it, and in you go

And to add a place to your spaces use the tool bar along the top of the page ,, then add space (i think it says) then stick you pin in a place you want to save and fill in the name in the window

zoom into central london and give it a couple of minutes to catch up. thats an example of a high res photo they have. if you see less detail than that then you are still on the low res photos for your area. they update the photos every few months ago so you just need to hope that thenext update includes better resolution for your area.

Yup, maybe that's the problem. Edinburgh is totally blurred once it reaches 132 feet. Doesn't matter what way I tilt it to find streets and garages. It says "100% streamed" - maybe Google is referring to the heavy rain that blurs vision in that wet place?

I have a mate living in LA we were chatting on skype he told me his street name ,,, it freaked him out when i sent him a screen shot showing his house under constrution

Judging by the Escape in Castleford, i'd say about 4-5 years old.
