I don't suppose anyone recorded it? Thanks!

were you out of the room making assorted hot sandwiches? if so, a programme on the dangers of mixingmetoasties might well be pertinent to find on tape.

The pub's just as lovely, "The watership Down" on watership down, its a real ale place that serves nice food, its situated on the B3400(right out in the sticks) and is run by Mark and his lovely wife, who hail from Herts and are mad Watford fans, their special is Indian food which is no wonder as they spent some time in India.
Nice and relaxing in the summer with a decent carpark, its worth a blat along the twisty B3400.

Thanks for the useful (and not so useful ) replies!

The reason I was interested is because our children love the story, and we don't live very far away so, planned to visit one weekend. The idea was to visit some of the locations, go for a walk on the down, lunch in the pub.

P.S. Is the pub child-friendly?

yeah they have a non smoking section, high chairs and will warm up baby food etc.

And in the summer the garden is large and good with swings and the like.

If you want details on walks give me an email I do a lot of walking around the area and can recomend a few places, but you can just wander around some of the villages and towns near by or actually on the downs (dont forget your kites!)

Here is a map,the road that runs through Overton-Laverstoke-Whitchurch is the B3400(if you want co-ordinate it on a map),this was the/or one of the old routes down to the West Country.
Apparently Overton(coincidentaly where i used to own a florist)is the largest village in Hampshire and Whitchurch is the smallest town,i was told by the local that "scraps hill" between the two was where the locals used to fight over the local girls.

The White hart in Overton is mentioned in the Doomsday book,Overton also has its own Rugby Festival every year involving Scottish, welsh, and foriegn clubs....it also holds its own Beer festival.
The source of the River test originates between Overton and Deane, and it is said the first few miles of the test(i think it is four) should be populated by brown trout(british fish) and not Rainbow, think i remembered that right

Whitchurch is very interesting aswell and has an old silk mill situated on the river test which has been turned into a public museum with its own tea room.

Laverstoke has a Market garden ,the owners have won many awards at the Chelsea flower show....also Jodi Shector(sp) owns laverstoke house.
From the B3400 passing through Laverstoke you can see the longest thatched set of roofs covering a number of dwellings, althought the rear is tin.

The "Watership down pub" is situated; ,proceed out of overton towards Laverstoke as you pass through and come out of Laverstoke take a right turn and the pub lays up there on the left,Mark the landlord is a right funny and freindly charachter and i enjoyed plenty of football related banter with him.

Just a few facts on the area that i picked up along the way.
