Hi

Has anybody changed the seats in a Tamora? The seats are pretty unsupportive and I would like to change them for something a little better.

Has anyone tried to do this and found it to be a problem? and can anyone recommend some good seats for everyday driving that will fit in the tamora, I was thinking some kind of Recaro style but am no expert on this.

Opinions welcome.

Cheers

Not meaning to strike controversy, but what about the new tuscan2 seats that they now come with. Are they considered better? Personally I find the seats extremely supportive ( ihave the electric lumbar support) and the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. I can drive for hours in them with zero seat fatigue!

So sorry to hear you are having issues!

I agree, for normal spirited driving I don't have any issues with the seats they are comfortable and supportive. They have been slated in some of the magazines but that is a load of rubbish and I think copy cat writing.
In the Tam with the roof down they are fantastic as they act as a wind baffle as well.

I looked to upgrade my Sagaris seats to the new Tuscan ones so I could run harnesses.

Price per seat £1200

IMO looks-wise the original Tamora/T350 seats are better than the Tuscan, however comfort-wise the Tuscan seats are an improvement, more supportive, and appear to me to take up less room int he cabin.

Of course, this will differ for everyone, given we come in all shapes and sizes.

LOL, I did exactly the same, the cost of the seats are way too restrictive - the only other alternatives are finding some at a breakers, or, perhaps getting the current ones re-padded by a specialist - but buying them direct from TVR is way too expensive.

edited to add - I have no idea why they're so much, it's not as though the materials used are of the highest quality, is it? Look how quickly they wear compared to, say, or now 60K mile Clio, the material still looks like new, and the seats cost peanuts in comparison!

Thing is for £1200-1500 the pair I would have ordered them on the spot!

Me too, I figured the pair of seats would come to around £800-1000, but was shocked when I realised how much just one seat is!
For comparison, we looked at new seats for the wife's MG (nothing wrong with current ones), and a new pair, covered in the best leather are around £600-800! Now, I am sure the materials used are not in any way inferior to the TVR seats, so why the price difference - you can't use the 'well, they are hand laid in GRP' argument, they are still easy to make - however, it is a small market, so I guess they can charge what they like.
Pity Leven doesn't offer a re-trimming service.

Hi

G.S. Motorsport.

These guys will fit your seats for £75 per seat. They also have a pretty comprehensive range of seats (www.gsmotorsport.com/interior-styling-after-market-seats-c-10_59.html?page=1&sort=2a).

All you have to do is choose a seat that'll fit! (I'm sure that if you were to send them some measurments they'd tell you which seats'll fit.)

Good luck,
Michael

Ps if you do go ahead could you keep us informed.

Some nice seats on that site. Be interesting to see what fits (with a custom subframe).

So I wonder how much approx to get seats trimmed in matching interior colours (I'd love black/grey but my car is cream/mulberry inside!).

I bet you could buy decent Recaros and have them retrimmed for the price of the TVR seats.

Not for a tam/350/sag but just taken delivery of some Sparco Tec seats at just over £200 each. They are one of the very few that will fit in a Griff. My local trimmer will recover in leather which he will supply (did you know that TVR have just stopped supplying leather?) for £200 - £250 each. So about £900 for the pair.

Nice. Send us some pics. I bet 'our' cars interior dimensions are quite similar to yours. Some people have squeezed Tuscan seats into Griffiths and they look a bit tighter fit if anything.

TVR seem to be stopping supplying anything other than brand new cars :-(

TVR get their Carbon Leather from Martrim in Middlewich Cheshire, wonder if they get the rest from there?
