Julie's car was broken into last night and the CD changer stolen. Both door locks trashed but minimal other damage.
Whilst checking the car I realised that the umbilical cable that links the changer to the head was missing, which means they took it. Now I fitted that cable and it meant taking half the car to bits; they obviously just ripped it out.
It occurred to me that as they'd carefully unscrewed the changer, and pulled the umbilical out, they must have been intending to get the full system but were disturbed. As we live next to a field I though they might jump over the fence rather than risk being seen in the street, and also I thought that the amount of force required to pull the umbilical out might well rip the plugs off the end... in which case they'd probably just chuck it over the fence.
So I looked over the fence: lo and behold what did I find? Not the umbilical, or the changer, sadly.
Just where you'd land if you jumped over the fence was a slightly soggy £20 note, folded as if in the pocket of a Kappa shellsuit...

So I have no doubts they'll be back for the rest of it.. and I'll be waiting

Juat had SOCO down taking fingerprints: apparently this was the only car crime in the area overnight.
Now I'm not one for casting aspersions, but the car only came back from the bodyshop on Thursday, where any number of people would have seen that it had no alarm, and although the changer wasn't left in, the umbilical was...
