...Bono.

It's easy having a holier than thou attitude when you've got £400m sat in the bank mate. The rest of us have to work Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 just to make ends meet. You may feel strongly about Africa and all credit to you for putting your point across, but some of us feel differently and think there are more pertinent issues to address.

You've had your say... so sling your hook.

Yep.

He could survive quite nicely with just a few million so what's he doing with the other 390?

I got started on by a Bono impersonator at Xmas for nicking his drum sticks. My reason was that Bono aint the drummer, but he didn't find this funny. Good impersonator though as just like the real one he was a total .

I've also become slightly narked by him lately. Apparently his own band mates are getting more than a little fed up too.

To be honest its easy for them to go on crusade about 3rd world poverty when you dont live in the real world. He wont have to worry about things like his childrens education or the state of the NHS.

I agree completely. He seems to get more air time on television promoting iPods than telling people how to think about Africa.

If he feels that strongly about it, why not sell one of his houses and give the proceeds to the third world? The one outside Dublin will do, it's considerably larger and more expensive than the Canadian embassy across the road.

I find the whole rockstar-driven media circus for African aid VERY distasteful and a bit insulting.

People whose personal values seem to revolve around :

lavish lifestyles , conspicuous consumption , materialism , drugs and alcohol

lecturing the rest of the world about aid for impoverished nations is rather like Dracula setting up a blood donation charity.

He's irritating, but not as bad as Sting.

I must admit, I've never been that impressed by U2 either. I can't understand how they got an automatic UK Music Hall of Fame place ahead of bands like the Stones and the Kinks. I find Bono's delivery altogether lacking in conviction somehow - even when he's singing about Northern Ireland or the Berlin Wall or Africa, he's got the exact same tone of voice as when he's singing one of those U2 'isn't it all fekkin' grand' songs like Vertigo and Beautiful Day. And the rest of the band, while distinctive in appearence, aren't the kind of stand-out talents you see in bands such as Velvet Revolver or REM. The Edge? Show me his stand-out guitar solo?

Which bit is it that you object to?

The fact that he's standing up for the world's poor, the fact that he's rich or his personality?

I don't have the energy or appetite for his charity work but frankly I'm glad he does.

Exactly start your little charity off with some of your own vast fortune before you go moralising to me...

i quite like U2 but i reckon that's more to do with The Edge...

Completely agree - the problem is Bono thinks he is more, oh so much more, than just a pop star.

i've got everything they have ever done and think the music is great, but i have been put off lately by his pontificating I dont want to listen to someone telling me to text GW Bush for peace or save the brazilian boobyknocker tree, i want to listen to songs......i think that politics encroaches into music TOO much

Except in this case, the drummer technically owns the band.

I can see how Bono might get on peoples nerves, but the bottom line is, he's helped raise more awareness and money for charity than possibly all of us here put together. If he can do all that, and still have a great life (which he openly admits) then fair do say I.

And if you get a chance, stay at The Clarence in Dublin which is owned by Bono and The Edge ... absolutely superb in every sense.

And their best song? I've been listening to them since their first release so I go for tracks like Gloria and Fire off the October album. But, having Bono laid flat out on the catwalk, literally 6 foot from my nose belting out "One love" was something else ... no voice presence? Get a grip!
