MEANT 840Bhp!!!! (typing error in title)
What do you recogn??
Pat Doran is considering selling his Sensational Rallycross Ford RS200!!
This car is Still considered the Fastest car ever tested by performance ford magazine...doing 0=60 in 1.7 secs!!
I am Pats daughter and have been trying to convince him to keep the retired car for track days/Santa Pod or Car Shows. We have had the car since 1992....so we've been through alot with the old girl.
www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=129&i=9352
Problem is he doesnt think the car is of any interest to anyone anymore.
I was hoping that your reactions to the end of one of the last genuine Ford Rs200s could maybe convince him to keep the car.
If I cannot persuade him to keep it then it will either be used as a donor car or shipped abroad.
What would you guys recogn on keeping the car for events etc and using it for demonatrations in the lunch hours of the British Rallycross Championship Events??
Please let me know your thoughts on this.......

I saw the car in action at the Brands Hatch Rallycross Superprix in 03 and it brought a tear to my eye. Never thought I'd see one in action and I'm extremely grateful to Pat for this - if there is any way he can keep it and bring it to these events then I reckon there's a whole crowd out there for it. It's a fantastic car.
One of the most exciting cars I have seen at Goodwood FOS was an RS200.
It would be a real shame to let such an important one go, especially if using as a donor car was one of the options.
Keep it, show it off, let people see how much better than the modern offerings it is, might even help to buck the car manufacturers

Darlington & District Motor Club are trying to get a GroupB sprint event going at Croft this year, that car would pull the crowds in on its own...i'd definitely pay good money to see it in action
Would be nice to see it doing demo runs at the RallyX events too...

How about giving Bernie Ecclestone a shout, it's about time F1 had a safety car that didn't slow the field down to a crawl

OK - Rallycross icons...
Mavropoulos' Quattro S1
Welch's XTRAC Escort & Group S Astra
Schanche's XTRAC Escort & RS200E
Gollop's Metro 6R4
Alamaki's Delta S4
Nittimaki's 205 T16
...and Pat Doran's RS200E
'nuff said
and the answer's no, don't sell it - notice I haven't mentioned Fiestas, 306s or Xsaras in the list above - they don't have the same presence as the old Group B warriors, no matter how many steriods they're fed

Add to that list the Arnesson S1, Breitenaider S1, Alrid Martinsen's 750bhp E30 M3... Oh sod it, all of them! What a fantastic era.
Oh and keep the RS200, definitely.
I can't believe Pat is thinking of seling the RS 200, he must have so many great memories of racing that car, especially the year it took him to 2nd in the European Championship.
Here are a couple of my pics,
The original colour scheme
The Q8 colour scheme,at Estering, Germany in 1992.
Later that night at the presentation, when Will and Pat were 1 & 2 in the ERC.

Hi Amy
You have got to get your dad to keep the car, it is one of the all time great rallycross cars especially when Pat was driving it, the sight and sound of the car is fantastic and I for one would love to see it out again if only for demo runs, unfortunately the group B sprint at Croft has had to be postponed at present but hopefully it will run later in the year and it would be great to see the car there.
Here's a small tribute to Pat in some of the cars I've watched him in

Cor.....who's that youthfull looking smart geezer on the left.......

He didn't look like that that Sunday morning at Valkenswaad in 199? after a few sherberts too many......

Not that any of us from the Rallycross Trust coach trip looked or felt that good either at 8.00am that morning.
Don't let yer Dad sell it.....
There's one event that he needs to try and get a go at winning, and that's the Goodwood FofS.
That car would be just right for having a genuine crack at the Goodwood FofS hillclimb record.......
That car is sure to be welcome at a very large number of events and for all kinds of sprints and drag races.
Brighton Speed Trials is a must for that car, I know your dad did it in the Fiesta but the RS200 would be immense there and would be a real crowd puller! I have seen that car run round Brands and it was ludicrously fast and far more charismatic than most of the modern machinery!
Has Pat ever thought of doing Pikes Peak or similar in it?
