Pop-up head light help!

Hi,

One of the bolts acting as a hinge flew off at a rate of knots today! The light is now flapping around on one side. It looks like it is just a bolt that needs putting in - is there a thread on the inside of the body for this screw to hold into place? Is the best way to access this through taking the headlamp off and through?

Yes, there's a captive nut in the body. Just need to take the lamp unit out to access them. Don't forget to use a rubber washer(tap washer is about the right size)between the pod and the body, and don't overtighten it or the pod wont fully retract. Some of these bolts were drilled and wired in place as well, to avoid your scenario.

Loctite them if you havent got a wired bolt otherwise it will come undone again.

And whilst you are at it - check/do the same with yer bonnet bolts.

Forgot to say that on my SEAC they not only were they wire locked they each have a rubber strap that with a buckle. This looks a standard fitting and prevents the pods rolling down the road if the bolts do fall out.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your help, fixed it yesterday and it works like a dream. I'm quite chuffed, I know that sounds silly but I'm not that technical when it comes to cars so removing bits and pieces to make something work again is pleasing.
