I finally located my mysterious loss of coolant tonight, looks like I have a very slight leak from the underside of the radiator so it looks like I'm going to need a replacement. I have checked out Eliseparts and they have the standard item and a upgraded all alloy one. Does anyone have any experience of the alloy item and is it worth the extra dosh? It's about twice the cost but if it lasts twice as long then in the long run I will save on only one lot of labour for my local specialist to replace it.

I guess it's a clam off job so any other jobs worth doing whilst it's off?

OEM Rads are part-plastic, a known weak spot which splits (probably what's happened to yours). Eliseparts upgraded ones are highly spoken of - post on SELOC technical forum and you'll no doubt get a few responses. It's clam-off, I'm afraid.

yes - the Eliseparts one is the only one worth going for..if you get the std part with plastic end caps it may go again in a few years. I have the ally one on mine - the original went at 60K miles ...quite common

..lots of labour to fit too...dont expect much change out of £500 by the time its fitted unless you goto a specialist

Feared as much, loks like the extra longevity of the alloy job will be offset by only one set of labour charges, me thinks high power driving lights and protectors whilst clam is off also makes sense; drivers side has large stone hole. Looks like another pricey month - Steve B' S2 suspension kit to be fitted, B Service and now radiator and driving lights, ouch.

Pass me a hammer, the piggy bank is for it.
