Car fixed but coolent level is down
Discussion
Just had my car repaired after some numpty drove into the back of me and since I have collected it I have noticed the coolent level has dropped since I took it in for repair.
The repair has taken 2 months to complete, can the coolent level go down through lack of use? Or is it something I should be concerned about?
There is also a smell on occasions that I am infamiliar with, is that likely to be the new exhaust or something to do with the coolent?
Any help much appreciated
Cheers

Coolant level generally stabilises just below the min mark when cold. If you top it up with more than it wants/needs it will eject the surplus when hot (it decides when it has enough, not you
).
Check when it's upto temp where the level rises too. If it's consistent over a few runs you've nothing to worry about. It's just found it's 'happy state'.
