Hi All

my 32Bit IE has stopped working for some reason. Type a URL in and nothing whatsoever happens..... 64Bit version is fine.

It wont let me install 32bit (from the full offline version i downloaded) again due to it detecting i'm on 64Bit so now i cant run windows update either. MSN messgener wont load the hotmail screen when an email arrives either.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to reset IE totally !? Tried removing IE from control panel/add/remove components. No effect.

i removed the NVIDIA firewall as its supposed to cause problems but it still doesnt work. Tried resetting browser to defaults and clearing history/temp files etc...

Browsing the net will reveal people's efforts at uninstalling/reinstalling internet explorer and also TCP/IP but they are ugly.. A reinstall may be on the cards .

check in add/remove programs for somthing nasty like newdotnet... it infests the tcp/ip stack and if your anti virus nukes it tcp connections stop working...

can you resolve addresses and ping from a command line ?

if not im afraid the easiest solution is probably a total rebuild as a fecked windows install can take forever to fix and even then may not work properly...

I will check for any .NET installs....

Pinging etc is fine, DNS resolves fine...

The annoying thing is i dont know whats screwed it up so if i rebuild i could potentially do it again. I have a ghost image on another disk of the XP install so i may just revert back to that although i'll lose some game info/data....
