I have attempted to fit a Larini exhaust to my S2 111S '03 model.

IT DOES NOT FIT.

SPECIFICALLY:

It seems that the tip with attached pipe cannot fit OVER the main crossover pipe. This is the left-hand side pipe as looking from the rear of the car.

Is this exhaust supposed to come with a left hand pipe and a right hand pipe? Or are they both identical?

Can anyone that has fitted one to this model car comment please? I live in Australia and want to get this dam thing to fit without having to go back and forth over the sea for weeks!

The pipes (i.e. the left tail pipe and the right tail pipe) are DIFFERENT. They do take a bit of fiddling to get on but once they are on fitted absolutely fine on mine.

Forgive me for asking a sily question, but I assume you have fiddled around with the pipes in different combinations?

Check that the pipes are different - it could be possible that they have accidentally sent you two left hand pipes, for example.

Hi Tony,

Yes it looks like they have sent me two of the same pipe. They look almost identical. Instead of the pipe arching over the main crossover pipe like a rainbow would, it is a 'U' shape thereby hitting it.

That's correct. Mine is an '03 also and had no fitting problems. Assuming you've tried both pipe combinations, sounds like you have two of the same. Take a picture of it, email it to Larini with a request for a prompt response and a replacement pipe. They should act pretty quickly seeing as they had all the fitting hassles before on a couple of cars...good luck

What I mean is that one of the bends in the pipe is in a U-shape. Which is clearly incorrect.

I have fitted one (well two now) of these to my S2111S.
When I recieved the box the pipes were wrapped individually in bubble wrap, one with A written on it, one with B in big letters. If you have not thrown away the packaging yet, you should be able to tell easily if they sent you two of the same or not. As i remember, the actual pipes although different look pretty similar anyway.

With my exhaust I had a big problems fitting but after explaining my problems to Larini they went away and reengineered the exhaust, sorting all of the problems i had. I now have a perfectly fitting new system fitted replacing the first one. We believe that my cars fitting issues are an exception due to lotus possibly using different mounting points however.
I am still waiting for larini to deliver my oem box back which i lent them and collect their old exhaust, but so far they have done everything they could to help. I would say if you do have problems, chat to them before getting angry, they will do their best to sort everything out with you in my experience.

He's right, don't lose your rag with them just yet. It's well worth the wait, it's a fab exhaust.
