Not a VMAX event of course but she was taking part at TOTB II.

The Viper looked and sounded in rude health and Nadine was giving it some beans.

I'm not sure when the event was held (sometime in the summer) but I'm sure it will be repeated in due course. I think the program was called "Great Auto Shows" or something similar. It's well worth looking out for.

its an annual event were on TOTB6 this year, so it's old footage, still great to watch though, recall Nad won her class that year around the handling circuit beating a regular tracker in a lightweight Dax bussa into second place

Program was repeated again last night.

The viper sounds...errr loud. I do like the supercharger noise though.

There were a few shots of the "VMAX Ruf's" in the background.

Was the silver GT2 a Ruf car? Didn't think there were that many in the UK

Actually last nights programme was different to the programme I saw with Nadine originally from TOTB2.

Nadine was also interviewed in last nights programme from Ten of The Best 3, along with a cameo appearance of Adam's/Mikes Ruf Yellowbird and R Turbo and Guys Ruf GT2, being beaten off the line by a Maestro Turbo.....albeit seemingly a special one.

The commentary is incorrect, the silver car is Henrys GT2 (non-Ruf).

Also many videos are misleading, they were timing 1/4miles and also top speed (but on one lane only), so frequently what you'll see is one car doing a drag-start and looking fast and the other car doing a top speed run and therefore not doing a drag-start. Also the 1/4s are timed from breaking the beam, not the lights, so quite often people will sit for a while before launching their car...........

Out of interest Guy, what were your top speeds at TOTB 3 & 4?

IIRC, "Rocket Ron" managed a 201mph in the modified Skyline R33, with the next best being in the 190's? I'm assuming therefore that your speeds were down on those achieved at VMAX, probably in the region of the 180's? And if I may, were you running the Nardo engine at TOTB 3 & 4?

Mark,

As always with these spurious TV channels, the programmes have been repeated endlessly this last week or so and is well worth a look at.

A quick google gives this on Rocket Ron.

209mph in 1.25 miles at TOTBII.

950bhp though.

Some comments:

1. Ronnie has never managed over 200mph at any TOTB event, his best was a 197mph at one of the earlier ones. The only car to have done over 200mph there was a drag Supra running about 1000bhp.

2. Ronnie has however managed 209mph at Elvington about 3-4 years ago using the full runway length and timing beams (but no GPS) and I was there on the day watching amongst only about 10 friends. He only just stopped at the end of the runway, so the timing beams were set a long way down. We stood about 20 feet away as he went through the beams!

3. He has also managed a best of 204mph recently at Brunters I think, again using the full runway, it was timed by Redline or Fast Car on GPS I think.

4. My car only ever ran at TOTB with the old engine (which managed 189mph at Brunters I think) and I got high 180s at TOTB I recall. Adam ran a 188mph at TOTB3 in the Yellowbird, so I would guess my car would have done a similar speed in it's current spec.

5. The cars at TOTB are much quicker than my car at drag-racing and that really counts at TOTB since it's 1.25miles from a standstill and the top cars at the TOTB events are now running 9sec quarters on race-fuel, drag tires and using Nitrous. Given this none of the Porsches/Rufs attended TOTB this year, as it's now moved beyond being modded street-cars into being dominated by barely practical drag-specials.

Guy, Joel cracked off a winning 200+ at TOTB5 last year on his very first run, he also managed 10th overall around the handling circuit which was quite tight and twisty, only one other driver (Evo i think) scored points in 2 disciplines.

Joel doesnt use NOS or drag tyres, he drove his car from Ireland via Scotland and Bath, completed in the Mopar nats the day before at Santapod, ran all day at TOTB back to Bath then back to Ireland, pretty cool like you say most of the top cars are specially built stripped trailored drag racers

He was beating the above mentioned Coulder Supra in the 1/4 mile 1/4 finals but missed a gear 3 parts up the track, doh, and finished a couple of hundredths behind the supra

Sorry I completely forgot about Joels Viper, probably because I didn't go to the most recent TOTB, so didn't see it run. His car is certainly a 'proper' roadcar and is amazing in it's performance on the Top Speed events. He just need to crack out some really good 1/4 miles now.

at Santopod before TOTB we witnessed a 10.5@146mph in Skunk, with some practice a sub 10 second may be possible, grip off the line was the usual problem that day
