I was driving a 360 Modena with a Tubi system recently.
As you all know, they are louder than the standard system.
I was coasting along in city traffic at speeds between 0-30 mph. Obviously, each time the car accelerated, the noise got louder and attracted admiring glances. This included a Police traffic car, who promptly pulled me over.
He said "Is there really any need to make so much noise in traffic, you don't have to rev it that much".
While he was looking the car over, he pointed out that my numberplates were illegal because they were cut short (a four digit private plate).
He did let me off with a warning, but still told me to keep the revs down!!!!!!

Anyone, had similar experiences?

You sir, are the scum of the earth.. fancy driving around in your flash car with a (still readable) cut-down number plate.. how dare you !

I'm glad our taxpayers money is being well spent on policing real criminals like you, and not wasted cracking down on drug addicts who knock over grannies for a couple of quid.

It seems (from my reading) that you're allowed to cut down the size of your plate, so long as it has the correct margin around the characters: DVLA link.

I got puuled in the 360 once (Tubi and de-cat...), and they started with: "hope you don't mind, but we wanted to have a nose at the car..."

"loud isn't it??!?!"

"Standard italian exhaust believe it or not..."

And once in the Murci in the middle of the night...

I sat in the car and wound the window down a fraction.

"can you turn of the engine and get out of the car please sir"

"Not until I can call the station and verify your police number"

"Are you being serious sir?!!?"

"Yeah, this car may well be worth more than your house and so I want to make sure I'm not about to get carjacked.."

He didn't take kindly to that...

DanL is correct. As long as the letters and numbers are the correct size and spacing with the richt margin top and bottom of the plate, then the sides and any excess top and bottom can be cut to your satisfaction, but there has to be a boarder all the way around the letters/numbers approx 1cm I think. Next time (as long as you conform to the above) tell the boy in blue to get stuffed!

On a visit to London in October, I was jogging in St James Park and an F430 went by with (I presume) a Tubi loud version. I've never heard anything as loud in all my life. It was music to me, but I could understand that someone less tolerant would complain about it.

I've been pulled in my Elise for it being too loud. No cat and a more or less straight through Larini.

It's nowhere near as tuneful as a Tubi'd Ferrari but it's up there in terms of decibels. I think it's 112db at 4k rpm.

I was told that I was "A public nuicance". I wasn't given a ticket, just a telling off.

Andy, how boomy is your set up in the cabin...? I have to confess, it's the first thing I'd do if I got one later this year... Either Tubi of Capristo...

GET A CAPRISTO.

After seeing a video with 3 diff exhausts inc Tubi and Capristo, it HAS to be a Capristo.

They were not very happy with me at Christmas in my Skyline.

I put my foot down to join the A19 from a slip road, with the screamer pipe in full flow and with a decatted Kakimoto exhaust system. Got pulled straight away, I was not speeding but the give the car the once over. A bit arsey with me at first then one of them started to chat about my car and the mods.

Tuan,

The car is reasonably quiet inside (I actually drive the the window down most of the time to get the full aural experience!). i can't comment on the capristo exhaust, but the video's definately don't do the real thing justice. Full chat in 2nd through Dartford tunnell last year was particularly pleasureable!!

The radio in the LP5000S was an amusing sight

Interiour is basic and practical. Look at those speakerholes: beautifull designed but completely useless.

Dinks view on loud exhausts: as long as the soundbyte is awesome and rare there's no problem at all

ChavMobiles should be taken care off though!

You have the right not to talk to the police etc before they state why they are wanting to talk/pull you over and without seeing and verifying there police number.. It winds them up correct me if im wrong.
