Well I have now got 4 spiders (3 fronts and 1 rear) thanks to ebay and PH over last few months.
all need refurb. Appear not to have any buckles (per Fernies tyre place). Going to take the one tyre off and sell on ebay (or can I be bothered). Paid £185 for all four, less £40 for tyre = £145 !!!
Refurb and swaps via TVR fix (for 4 fronts) = £250 incl delivery charge. So under £400 for 4 x18 inch spiders. Now will order tyres from Leigh tyres at £320 = £720 all in.
Much better than the £1300 ish from a dealer.
Has anyone here fitted them themselves eg done the mods to hubs and steering bump stops?
I guess I need some nuts as well.
Should be putting the refurbed 17s on ebay soon. I should hopefully get £350 for them (ie two good tyres and two ok tyres). so £720 - £350 = £370 all in (and I needed 2 tyres soon for 17s anyway so can knock off another £200 so I reckon upgrade cost me £170 !).
OK my maths might be a little optimistic in one or two places but I am plsed with myself!

Sounds good but check carefully for cracks, in the usual rim place. My spiders don't seem to have any spacers that I can see. Biggest problem will be if you need the body wheel arch increased on the back like mine.

As for bump stops at the front. Very simple two circles of plastic with a single cut across them so you can slip them over the rack. Easy peasy.

ps can I just use the centre caps from my 17s or do I need to order new caps (do they come with TVR badge) and nuts from a dealer?

The caps from the 17" RL won't fit. TVR say the bolts are different, but I've seen people use the old bolts on the new alloys - but new bolts (perhaps in black) would look nicer though? The caps come at £7.70 each plus VAT and then you can have a domed silver or gold centre; or domed black TVR logo centre; which are stickers and sticks onto the centre cap.

So off to local dealer then for caps.
Is it true that the Jeep Cherokee (prev model) bolts fit ? Is there a part number?

Yes there is apparently!!!

OLD THREADS:-
But you can order the right McGard nuts from Halfords (assume these are locking ones) - you'll need Chrysler jeep Grand Cherokee ones (I think), part number 24138.

Gazzab,

Are your 17's ok. I have a leaky rear and would prefer to stick with the RL's

my RL17s are excellent ie total refurb 9 months ago. Tyres great at front and ok at rear.
To get a refurb set EXCHANGE from TVR Fix = approx £200.

Rang a Jeep dealer. 24138 isnt the part number. So I suggested that they were the hubs from a 98 ish era Grand Cherokee.
BUT they want £5 each for the nuts !!! £100 !!!!! And they dont carry that much stock.
I am told not to use the nuts from my old 17inchers.
So will try Raving Queens next !!!

ShinyNuts mate! Although they are expensive compared to an off the shelf one...they wont go rusty as the are made from stainless steel, and look the dogs danglies on the car...IMHO worth the extra!

Cheers Satman.
I have ordered from Raving Queen at £1.52 each !!!
Also ordered some locking wheel nuts from them.
Cant justify £100 plus on wheel nuts when my wide is likely to get a socket set for Valentines day
