Ive got a dripping tap which is dripping to the tune of a cup of water a minute. More like running actually. Its been running for about a week.

Get on the blower to a plumber instead of typing your woes in here then.

Doh, two minutes a spanner and a rubber washer, or call out a ninety pound an hour plumber to do a house call?

I think your better off just sitting and watching it, than actually attempting to do anything

Easy tiger. Ive never done any plumbing, already have a plumber coming round (Was here last week, will be here again this week doing work in the bathroom) and it would take me an hour to drive/find/buy/return with a washer.

I doubt it. He didnt go into the kitchen, but his mate (who i gather is someone he knows, rather than a "mate" ) was doing some carpentry in the kitchen (very nice guy, older fellow, I trusted him) was working under the sink hammering insulating boards up. Possible, but Id guess it was accidental, if at all related. It might be the cold.

I read somewhere that the average glass of tap water has already passed through the human body 6 times.........

Just a thought.....

That's down the Thames - someone in London is drinking water that's been drunk and recycled 6 times as the water flows down the river

Just turn the tap tighter, or bung a big lump of blu-tac around the tap nozzle while it's turned off.

£9.50 in Monte's on Sloane Street, I kid you not. Luckily the evening was on expenses so it was the boss that picked up the tab.

Nope, not a tiger, I'm a dragon. But, seriously, I do wonder how a person gets through life when they call a plumber to change a washer on a dripping tap.

Unless you live in a very remote place indeed you'll have a corner shop about a mile or so that'll sell tap washers.

If you like to put that to the test just post your postcode and I rekon the PH collective will have you sorted in about ten minutes. And lastly if you have enough savvy to be typing on an internet website I rekon you could work out how a tap comes apart and what to change in the time it takes your feet to feel wet.

Really though, to admit to the world you're incapable of even the simplest household maintenance task must be a bit humiliating. I'm just trying to supply forward momentum through ridicule.

Nope, it was poured down the neck of a pd Swedish Architect who thought she could drink

Don't know what was worse, my hangover the next morning or the bking I got for a bar tab comfortably into four figures
