Hello,

We have been trying to get through to you on the phone today but you must be out at work, your photograph was forwarded to us as part of an article we are publishing for our February edition of Total Business Monthly. Can you check over the format and get back to us with your approval or any changes? If the picture is not to your liking then please send a preferred one. We've attached the photo with the article here.

There was an 8Kb zip file attached which I haven't opened in case it's a collection of viruses.

Yup: I got one of those.

Has spam written all over it: bin it immediately.

The attachement contains nothing like a photograph - it is a Zip file with an executable in it.

Yep, got one too. I get very little spam with my .mac account, wonder where this one comes from. Being mac based, I'm most probably immune to it. Tell you what, I'll decompress it and forward it to Simpo, he can tell us what it does .

I've seen that format now 6 times and the text is always different but on the same subject.

People who release these things into the internut should be shot!

It is a trojan virus. Do NOT open it.

www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojstinxs.html

Unfortunatly at this time only Sophos have a cure for it. If you have inadvertantly run it, then you really have no choice but to install the trial of Sophos, or wait with a compromised machine until the rest catch up (should be tomorrow).

Luckily it seems photographers are blessed with sufficient braincells to deflect such nonsense.

No point emailing anyone, it's a virus and all the sender details and content are a forgery.

What's interesting is that mine (all 4 copies) arrived to an email address I've only ever given to Nikon.... Hmmm....

That would explain the targetting of photographers. It also tells me that Bacardi is a closet Nikon subscriber

No point mailing him - he wouldn't have anything to do with this. It's more likely that the originator of the mail has picked his details to put in the mail, or it was sent by someone who had his email address in their address book.
