The pictures from pixum have turned up, and the quality is stunning.

I've scanned one at 200dpi on my HP3970 scanner and resized both original and scan to 700 pixels wide.

Original

Print

The second is straight off the scanner - NO modifications (you can see the slight border at the top where it wasn't dead straight).

I also got one of their 18x12 posters and the rendition is well better than my Stylus 1290 could ever do.

Finally, best of all they use the same system as pixaco - namely that the 'short' side is fixed to 4,5,6" etc. and the 'long' side is whatever the with of the picture actually is from the pixel sizes, so no cropping, no lost picture.

Highly recommended (although you do have to wait a few days for it to come across from Germany, but it was by DHL so no worries about it getting "lost in the post" )

Looks good but disappointing that the 12 and 20 inch prints have a minimum height tho, I do like photobox's 12x5 and 20x8 (even though they have yet again fluffed up the trimming).
And a deck of cards with 32 cards...? What's that about.
Mail me the mail address you use for them and I'll stick you in as a refferer if I give them a go.

I noticed that - still you could always trim them yourself?

There's not enough car parking space for it to be Justin's pile.

Looks like a semi D to me!

That wouldn't do!

I will be giving pixum a go.

Am I right in thinking that pixum would also replace photobucket as my new place to host and store all my pics on-line?

Should I shut down my photobucket account? What happens to those pics?

Thx
G

Pixum does also offer free hosting of the images. If you just leave photobox I assume they will eventually delete them - you'll need to check their T&Cs.

If Pixum are as good you make out then PhotoBox might be forced to be a little more competitive... and drop that 10% commission.
