simple question... what's it worth?

Simple question, no simple answer...

Is it in poo brown metallic with fifty owners, finance owing and federal spec? Or is it Ferry Porsche'd old car, kept in an air conditioned de-humidified room, delivery miles and warmed up every few days before naked ladies smother it in zymol?

The simplest answer is, as always, a car is worth what someone will pay. Cruddy 70s 911 go for 4k. Lovely 70s 2.7RSs go for above 100k. I'd say really nice vintage non-RS 911s seem to max around the mid-twenties, with merely-nice examples being had for between 12-18k. Just a guess tho'. Not a lot to go on.

So that tells us colour, spec, history... and one person's concours condition may be different from anothers... is it concours winner, runner-up or non-placed.

Still not enough info, title or not

So to you, too

I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I was complaining about the title.

Dazren, dunno what you dealt with but it should be 'concours' not 'concourse'.

lhd, rhd? if the former, it may have injection, IIRC all rhds had carbs. Frankly, the T is the lowest spec as I'm sure you know - didn't it have a different block or heads to the E and S? - certainly had different cams...circa 110 bhp...from a looks perspective it'll be identical to an E or S though. I've seen supposedly Concours cars with a ton of filler in them up for £13k - equally I've seeen really mint ones breach the £20k level. Having driven Ts Es and Ss, the jump up in power is really noticeable, even from T to E.

Buy on condition, I guess - ideally it'd be an E or S though...and look for filler everywhere - only the floorpans of the later impacts were ever galvanised and when I restored my 17 year old E back in 1989, I had to repair a lot of rot that had taken hold above the floorpan line.

thanks again rubystone for answering - you following me around or something? i know it was a vague question - but really i can't be doing with nitpicking nonsense on the typo's.

i wasn't looking for a definitive answer just a ballpark. I had in my mind around £15k. this is not for me but for a car buff i know who's looking at one currently in south africa.

your figures have confirmed my opinion, so thank you...

I defer to the superior wisdom and judgement of our beloved Moderator although strictly speaking you should have started your sentence with a capital letter and the inverted commas around 'you're' should be " not '

As Domster and Rubystone have already said, there is no easy answer. I looked at a nice, but no way concours, RHD 2.2T in Oxford this week end. Its for sale for £15K and I thought it was a reasonable price. If the car really is perfect it may fetch £20K here.

The fact it is a T will count against it.

To quote Peter Morgan's book -

"If you cannot find an S, an E is almost as good if not as 'cammy' - with a T you will always be searching for more power".

Having said that, I'd quite like to have a classic early 70's 911 in the garage next to my 993.
