ah right, hang on I'll quote it all:

tivo forum said:
One of my favorite people, Craig McCombie at the Cadillac forum, was caught in a lie, a HUGE lie. We all thought he was an architect from Britain who had a wife, kids, a dozen nice cars and a big house. Today he even said he hired a driver! He was also a supposed cigar aficionado.

He joined dozens of car forums and made tens of thousands of posts with this fake identity. He finally posted a picture of "his" Jaguar and someone on another forum ran the plates and found out he was lying. He admitted to faking it, apologized, then posted his real picture. His excuse was that he had depression and severe illness. I think he might also be a sociopath.

So yeah, I feel like I just lost a friend. Stupid forums.

Another weird thing is that he created fake accounts for his "wife" and "son". A lot of guys flirted with his "wife" which was actually him, so... ugh. And I joked about hitting on his daughter. Ugh. It was all him.

Here's the thread where he got caught:
www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/692197/page/0/fpart/all/vc/1

He's a member of some MB forums, Jeep forums, Audi forums, VW forums, Christian forums... heck he's everywhere, and he's a fraud. :tisk: All this time on all these forums, wasted. If he spent as much time being real as he did on being a phoney, he'd probably be as successful has he pretended.

I am a sucker.

He posted his real photo, a 16 year old kid with diabetes and depression:

I decided to go through some of the threads he created:

And another response, equally funny:

We have a similar drama playing out on MBWorld. Guy with 8000 posts, claims to have an SL55 and a Lambo Merci (among others), recently outed by the real owner of the Lambo whose pictures the guy had been posting.

Pretty funny stuff.

7? Mines 14 litres, it's got 2 engines - limited edition you see. I normally keep it in a hangar with my Gulfstream and Twin Squirrel. I'd show you all a photo but I my hands have fallen off so I can't work a camera.

Is this true? I remember him having a go at me because I said that Tim Henman wasn't really all that good, and he told me that Tim was a good friend of his!

One or two? There's loads. It must make some people feel big to brag about having fast cars and lots of money I guess. If you check their profiles not one single pic.

They must be trying to compensate for something else.

Let's just say that a certain Bomber Denton uncovered a few skeletons in his cupboard. He was challenged on a few 'details' of his cars and lifestyle which showed up some, what shall we say, 'inconsistencies'

A high flying jetsetter than was in LA one minute and Hong Kong the next, had a vast garage of cars but was always doing something/out of the country when a meet up was suggested.

Anyway we all know Los Angeles is a fraudster - he accused Denton of wearing sandals with socks when they 'met up' stateside. We all know that Denton is such a martyr to fashion that this would never be the case!

I know it's true LA, Corin told me himself

Why? What possible purpose does it serve to lie like that? (unless of course, you're really a secret agent!!) I can kind of understand kids doing it, but adults!

To be honest, I doubt there are *that* many fraudsters on PH - we're quite a intuitive bunch, not to mention cynical..
