I know this is probably obvious but how do I tell the difference between between the English and Atlas axles fitted from Fords.

I need to change a diff but am not sure which axle I have, and am guessing the diffs are not interchangeable.

I could probably find out by getting underneath and visiting scrapyards but I am still stuck at home recovering from an accident in December.

Thanks,

Steve

English axles the diff loads from the front (propshaft side) & has a ring of bolts on the front.
Atlas goes in from the back & has a ring of bolts on the back holding a tin cover
on.
Or pick them up, the Atlas is a heavy bugger!

Now that wouldn't be a good idea. I've got a fractured vertibrae.

Still, at least my other half can lie on the cold floor and let me know which side the diff bolts in from. Thanks for the info.

TR7V8 I must check out that profile!!
